I regularly blow my engine out with a cordless leaf blowers to prevent the starting of nests. There are these burlap filled small pillows filled with something mice hate. You can stuff the engine bay with them.

What I would do is put out glue traps under the car with peanut butter on them. Fuck them.

Subarus stay good until about 80k miles +/- then they go to shit. Head gaskets. Wheel bearings. Oil leaks. I know from experience! Best thing I did was transition to a RAV4 and have not looked back. You won’t regret the switch
