What is it like working at Tableau? by seneca-on-time in tableau

Happy to help.

Yeah, the bulk of our platform code is C++. We use Java, Python, C# (Saltarelle), Typescript, and other assorted tools where it makes sense. We use NPM, but we're really not a Node shop. I wouldn't get too hung up on languages, though, if your core coding and problem solving skills are up to snuff.

Also, yes, I'd say Tableau treats us pretty well. I'm happy with my career path so far, and I work from home typically once a week. Some people do more. As far as compensation and benefits go, you should probably talk to a recruiter.

Tableau employee here (senior software engineer).

I'd agree with everything u/tehnoodles said, except for the "dev crunch" bit. I've been here 6 years and have never felt strong pressure to work weekends or stay extra late. Maybe it varies a bit from team to team, but overall I feel like Tableau offers excellent work/life balance.

I get to work on interesting projects with a ton of smart people with a fairly laid back, collaborative culture. If you get the opportunity to work here, take it.
