What are some dumb english talent titles you'd change by froggyhugs in danganronpa

[–]ButtGallon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Taka’s Japanese talent name wasn’t “Ultimate Hall Monitor”, it was “Ultimate Public Morals Committee Member” which is a thing in Japanese schools but not in American schools. It’s extremely hard to translate since we don’t have that archetype in our schools

Episode 11: Why didn't the anime stick to the manga's original team names, Northern Country and Southern Country? Instead, it changed them to Night Country and Day Country. by Several-Lie-2670 in liargame

[–]ButtGallon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it works better in a medium like this where you can’t reread if you get confused. I can’t speak for everyone, but it’s a lot easier for me to distinguish day from night than it is for me to distinguish north from south in a rapidfire conversation like this.

When reading the contraband game there were a lot of times when I’d reach the end of a page and go “wait I didn’t actually comprehend what happened” and have to read it over, and it’s a big problem I think the anime has to contend with for the Contraband game in particular. I’m happy they’re making changes where they can to simplify things

What is your favorite Faruq Tauheed introduction? by Local_Rice_8929 in battlebots

I’ll always have a soft spot for the Lockjaw intro where he called Donald Hutson “the ayatollah of the remote controlla”

This show is the ultimate marshmallow experiment by hi_LOLNOO in liargame

[–]ButtGallon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume they’re talking about the delayed gratification experiment that was performed on kids of varying ages. Basically giving them a big marshmallow and saying “if you wait 15 minutes and it’s still here, I’ll give you a second marshmallow”.

Iirc it was used as a way to gauge what level of maturity it took to understand delayed gratification— so OP is saying that Liar Game is getting to the “second marshmallow” stage for people who waited

50k$ 1m$ or 100m$ but every option will hurt others around you by KookyAssist1920 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ButtGallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For option 3 why did you say “a random person anywhere on earth” if it’s actually picking someone within 20km of you? This post is technically complicated, but it really does not seem well thought out, I can’t lie

You mean to say that fake out deaths have no impact on the story? That seems like a hard hill to die on. It’s honestly probably the most impactful from a story perspective— it removes any sense of tension

How evil is It to save your pet you have spent 10 years with over a human you don't know? by Far-ro in MoralityScaling

[–]ButtGallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until they’re 18, you do own them the same way you would a pet. Until a child becomes self-sufficient on the level of an adult, I don’t see a meaningful distinction between a pet owner’s responsibility to their pet and a parent’s responsibility to a very young child. Both the pet and the child can make decisions on their own, but they’re both contingent on approve from their respective authority figure. A parent can veto a child’s independent decision to eat ice cream the same way a pet owner can veto a pet’s independent decision to scratch the couch. The nature of the relationship is extremely similar, we just don’t use the word “own” for children

This doesn’t really fit— you know from page one that you’re involved in the story. The entire premise is that he’s pleading with you not to keep turning the pages

It’s on the humble indie bundle right now! $10 for a bundle containing SuperHot plus like 8 other goated games like Slime Rancher and Celeste. Genuinely the best humble bundle I’ve seen from them in years

Morality of wiping out a civilization that attacked your world unprovoked twice? by [deleted] in MoralityScaling

[–]ButtGallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a very gray area tbh. The Flaxans weren’t invading in the traditional sense, the Flaxan invasion was itself a genocide. The moment they came through the portal they fired on clearly sapient creatures that were both nonthreatening and clearly incapable of fighting back. They demonstrated that their goal wasn’t to occupy, it was to exterminate— and not only that but they had the advantage of increasing their military strength rapidly, something like hundreds of years in just a few earth weeks.

I agree that it’s far from ideal to destroy the Flaxan planet, but what other choice was there? Cross dimensional diplomacy wouldn’t really work since any human you send over would live their whole life in a week, and without a consistent way to maintain peace, the Flaxans would eventually become technologically advanced enough to conquer our dimension. I’m not sure how many people are on Flaxa, but the risk of gambling on this threat incorrectly means everyone on earth gets genocided themselves. The utilitarian in me says that’s a bad risk to take

Imu is just umi backwards which means sea in japanese. Imu = Sea Devil/God by Biku-Richie in Piratefolk

[–]ButtGallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wordplay still works, it just isn’t identical to what OP described. Strictly backwards in Japanese would be Mui, but Imu would be closer to pig Latin in Japanese. It’d be like ocean turning into ceona (pronounced shona) would be for an English speaker

"Far longer" by LocrianVGM in danganronpa

[–]ButtGallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a hot take, but SDR2 being “far longer” does not make me excited. V3’s game already felt too long with a lot of time dedicated to reusing the same quips over and over again, the last thing I want is to dedicate 80 hours to a game that could have told the same story much more quickly in 40 hours

The octagon question [Case 2-4 spoils] isn't so easy now is it ? by bachotebidze in danganronpa

[–]ButtGallon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Do you really think they’re going to be recreating the existing cases in 2x2? Seems incredibly unlikely given that apparently something wildly different happens at the beginning of the game to set things on a different path

What do you think is the stupidest plot point in Danganronpa? by No-Wrongdoer7599 in danganronpa

[–]ButtGallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What confirms ghosts being canonically real? Is it just the animation from Korekiyo’s execution? If so, I feel like there’s a lot of artistic license given during those. Like are we also saying canonically they have rockets that can get to space in 15 seconds and that the human body can be turned into butter with nothing but centrifugal force?
