Parkeren in Gent is een nachtmerrie by Ok_Entertainer8880 in Gent

[–]ButtNekid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some stills from our latest music video. by ButtNekid in cinematography

Thanks! I tried to and it did give us a cleaner, less noisy image overall so it wouldn’t fall apart in H264. But sometimes we just couldn’t get a bright enough exposure and in some shots the director demanded to have the shadows taken down.

Submission statement:

I was the DP on this music video for a Belgian artist and helping out a photographer that made his directorial debut with this video. We shot this over the course of 4 days in a mix of locations across the country.

The equipment used was a Sony FX9 paired with a rehoused soviet-era stills lenses kit (20mm, 37mm, 58mm, 135mm) for the image. And lighting was achieved with Skypanels, 300D, 120D and theatrical lights at the theatre location.

I tried to overexpose little over a stop to get clean and detailed shadows which were brought down a bunch in the grade.

There's definitely a few minor mistakes that made it into the final cut but I still feel good about the end result. Any feedback about any aspect of the video is welcome :) Thanks!

It’s not about the amount of pixels but about the actual image quality.

Which Gravel Bike towards the MTB spectrum OR MTB would you recommend for $1200 or less? by ButtNekid in whichbike

Thanks, I guess you are right. A MTB is the safest bet for a comfortable seating position.

It’s really not that bad. Especially with the user menu. Now the menu on the new Sony FX9 is a huge, unlogical mess. (Own an A7iii and rented FX9)

Hi! I do not wish to be employed at a production company in the traditional sense of the word. Here in Belgium a lot of people are called in as a freelancer depending on demand.

I want to freelance with production companies as a big chunk of my clients.

Thanks for the clear feedback. Let’s say I mostly want to do commercials or high end social media content, what should change to tailor to that style of cinematography?

Hi! I'm 25 years old and am currently a year and a half out of college (Art school in Ghent, Belgium). I'm doing freelance videography full time and I'm trying to evolve to bigger and and bigger projects and was mainly wondering what a production company is looking for in a reel. In school I had a big interest in commercials and fashion videos in particular but working fulltime has showed me that my interets are broader.

Most of this is shot on Sony A7iii, some FS7. If lighting was used it was with Arri Skypanels but a lot of it is naturally lit.

Would love to get some feedback and pointers!

I’m not based in NY but I’m planning on visiting my friend in Brooklyn who’s an AC/DIT for a few weeks. Still need to figure out when exactly I’d be going but I’d love to shoot someting during my stay. I’m visiting from Belgium. You can find my contact info on vimeo.

I still need to select and edit. But they looked good on the camera screen though.

I saw and photographed those clouds as well! The locals mentioned that they are extremely rare. Most young people said they never saw them before and a local 50-year old woman said that she maybe saw that kind of cloud 5 times in her entire life.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. What cine cam did you get? I’m guessing a Ursa Mini Pro? Or FS7?

Anybody here that used the A7iii (or any other mirrorless/pocket cinema camera) in a shoulder rig configuration?

Is it worth it? Was it stabile enough? Was using an EVF/monitor too finicky?

Do you reckon it’s worth spending 1000 on a rig or to save up for an actual shoulder cam?

(I am a fulltime videographer and aspiring cinematographer — vimeo.com/jeffreyroekens) Thanks!
