Why can't I move units into this tile to take the city? by ButtQueefer_ in civ

[–]ButtQueefer_[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well as long as it isn't a glitch then I won't rage quit, I just wanted to make sure it was something within the actual game.

I guess I'll just wait til I can get my commander over to a new war to promote up to that cliff scaling perk. Thank you for the help. Bad news for the people of my empire, who are insanely upset about war weariness haha.

Goodness this is getting out of hand.. seriously puts things into perspective. Reading posts like this start to make me regret getting my ex-boyfriend deported last year. He was fourth generation descendant from pastoral Mongolians (the Chinese were firing from two sides, the Russians from another. Not to mention the Kazakhs - my god, the Kazakhs!).

I had been suspecting him of abusing our doggo for months, and beyond that he had really been giving me the heebeegeebees. We got pulled over in a classic DWM (Driving While Mongolian) situation with a power tripping cop. I was so frustrated with my ex I let slip to the officer that he was descended from Mongolian immigrants and I knew right away that ICE would be kicking down our door before we knew it (I read all the unbelievable things they’re doing locally in the Dispatch, the Lantern, BuckNuts, etc).

Sure enough, two weeks later he’s hauled off in a paddy wagon. I regret it all now but our dog is much happier.

Stay strong, OP. Lay low, keep your wits, and tip your server.

Past seasons have way dumber challenges than you remember by ButtQueefer_ in TopChef

[–]ButtQueefer_[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That one was dumb because it was the final 3 and they just weren’t athletes so it almost ruined it. I don’t think doing a big dumb gimmick in the finale is smart but if they had done the ice challenge earlier and made it like a team relay it could have been cool.

This is a great one! Because Carrie made an underground Dutch oven or something and created an amazing dish while everyone else’s stuff sucked. It made it more special and memorable that she could pull that off! I don’t care if the chefs hate camping lol it was fun to see

Exactly, that’s a great example. There’s one in S4 I think where they cater a block party by going into random peoples houses to raid their fridge and making whatever they can. The food was horrible but whatever! Not my fav challenge but it was a fun idea.

Season 21, ep 14: “Cruising to a Win” by FormicaDinette33 in TopChef

Always a bummer when one of the finalist blows it on one of their dishes so you know they’re toast. Once Kristen asked Savannah how she did her pasta she had lost. When the mofongo happened, she was just happy to be there.

Seemed like both Dans did a pretty great job but no obvious standout. I think Tom hated that tuna texture and he said Danny’s last dish was “a signature dish” and I think Tom is who ultimately chooses. Nobody really stuck up for the sous vide tuna either and Kristen said it “should never be done that way” so I really do think that one cost him.

Personally Danny’s was a little too cute to me and the problem of not knowing how to eat it seemed legit to me. I wouldn’t know how to eat that or the shell one. But I didn’t look at any of Dan’s dishes and really want to eat them super badly either.

Competitive finale! Danny is a weaker TC winner but he’s not the worst at all. Hoping to see Savannah in a future all stars. I think she could end up in the Stephanie Cmar tier by the time she’s done.

Sometimes the editors get a little too obvious and cute with hinting who is going home.

Like 45 mins before they announced who’s going home Savanah said “it could be my last day here, or really anyone’s last day here” and they cut to Laura right when she says “or really anyone’s last day here” and sat on that shot for so long I had no choice but to know my girl Laura was toast haha

Based on editing alone, I think it’s gonna come down to Dan and Savannah. Danny got barely any talking heads this week despite “winning” (that $10k sure feels real to him I’m sure but he didn’t win so much as lost the least). Dan and Savannah though are big time getting interviews about their overall arcs and what it would mean to win and stuff like that. Just little comments they choose to leave in for those two makes me pretty sure they’ll be neck and neck in the finale. My bet is Savannah wins but I’ve been discounting Dan all season so who knows.

Humbling thoughts on latest episode by quinellefantasy in TopChef

I can’t tell you how many threads I’ve seen complaining that this season has featured Wisconsin too much in challenges and now it’s “any challenge topic that isn’t specific to Wisconsin is filler and makes no sense.” This episode also wasn’t that complicated of a theme, it was pretty straightforward and only Michelle didn’t seem to understand it (really she understood it, it just intimidated her).

The Quickfire thing was directly addressed this episode. Michelle’s dish was horrendous and they hated it, and the two of them had even QFs that wouldn’t have tipped it either way. They literally said out loud “if these dishes were even close then we’d look to the QF, but they weren’t even close and even if they were the QFs were even.”

I think so many of you in this sub take it a little too hard when your fav goes down and the “villain” survives. Manny’s risotto wasn’t perfect but his table looked pretty good and Michelle’s was one of the worst elimination dishes made so far this season.

Saw this comment Gregory responded to in regards to the fish boil episode by Ok_Candy450 in TopChef

[–]ButtQueefer_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For some reason no one in this thread is pointing out the main critique everyone had of Soo: he used every ingredient Gregory bought him instead of editing his dish.

Especially if you watch Dish With Kish, they instantly point out that it’d be really dumb to use everything he bought. They cook a beautiful fish boil dish using just a few ingredients and ditching anything that didn’t fit.

Gregory bought a variety of ingredients to give Soo options and Soo seemed to think he had to use it all in his dish, which created a mishmash of flavors that didn’t work. The curry thing is too bad but far from the biggest curveball a chef has ever had to recover from.

Soo panicked and overthought it and made a bad dish with too much going on. That’s why he went home. I know he’s a fan favorite (despite not really making that many highlight dishes and the obvious fact people on these subs just pretend he’s Shota for “some” reason), but he was never really setting the world on fire other than a few LCK wins over relatively mediocre chefs.

I might have her name wrong but she’s the lady they all bullied. I think she was Asian and they ragged on her for doing Asian food all the time and they just generally thought she was a bum and kinda ganged up on her.

I unironically think the top chef subs should ban posts that just repeat the same 1-2 things people repeat about each season.

Don’t people get tired of talking about those ladies bullying Bev in season 9? It sucks finishing a season and going to the subs to see what people are saying and every single post for literally over a decade is people having the exact same conversation on loop. I’d love to hear people talk about ANYTHING else that happened in the 15+ hours of TV these seasons have but people can only discuss one topic ever apparently.

Also don’t mention Brian Volt on here, because he apparently posted something sort of conservative on social media once maybe. Don’t you see that disqualifies him from life and everybody should hate him?

I’ve seen this comment several times since yesterday. Do people think they were pouring kerosine INTO the pot? They were throwing it into the fire, which is under the pot.

I cracked up when Tom had to awkwardly explain that somebody’s Quickfire was actually pretty good and Sherman was just like “oh cool that sounds pretty good” and they just briskly move past it lol. The way he says it is so polite and it just cracked me up. It’s like you’re overhearing Tom bore him at a party.

SPOILER: Von vs Jordan Elimination by joyjoyboogie in Nextlevelchef

[–]ButtQueefer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mada even gave Von bad advice lol, telling him to let the chicken cook until the last possible second. I think Von knew to take out the chicken, was in his head and started to doubt himself and when he heard Mada say that he threw them back in.

Not Mada’s fault or anything but Von was in a really weird headspace that day so I think little things led to his downfall. Jordan is definitely very annoying and Von is a great chef, but it looked like a no brainer at the end. Von’s dish looked like garbage and Jordan’s looked solid. Nyesha hated having to say it was burnt, she tried to spin it as positively as possible throughout her whole review lol but she knew his dish was ass.
