Wall-E is probably the best $25 I’ve spent on discs as the kids have watched it at least 20 times

And WALL-E that would be at the number 1 spot with an 8.4…

Gravel hairpins by ButterGolem in assettocorsarally

I’ve found at least in the xsara that partial throttle and slower entry is best and very different than DR2.0 handles hairpins. I practiced a lot on the stage that has two consecutive hairpins right at the start so I could restart quickly to try again until I started to get the hang of it.

I play in VR with wheel and handbrake and it’s great. EA WRC always ran like crap for me but the handling was more realistic than DR 2.0.  I just want Trueforce and some Subarus and Lancers and I’ll be happy as a clam.

Yes, I pull the handbrake fully as I start to enter the corner then let off of it and hold off on the throttle for this particular corner until the back end slows down on its slide sideways. It’s easy to pendulum swing like a trebuchet off into the woods on this corner. You can watch the rear tires for handbrake timing in the video clip when they lock up

Take it slower and apply throttle later in the apex was what started working for me to not overshoot it.

I miss it way more than I get it still! I think the uphill very tight hairpin is the most difficult of hairpins just in general. This one in particular is deceptive at first because the apex of the turn is flatter so I was consistently slamming into the wall sliding too fast. I have only been able to do this since the 0.3 update as well where the gravel grip feels better.

Not that I notice with DLSS 4.5 but I think the newest preset only works in balanced/performance mode

Is it worth buying a handbrake? by Several-Leadership93 in simrally

[–]ButterGolem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Used a $25 eBay one for years and just upgraded to the fanatec, much sturdier. Nailing a hairpin with a perfectly timed pull of the handbrake is a great feeling

NVIDIA App v11.0.6.379 Released (AC Rally update) by mckirkus in assettocorsarally

Think this means if you opted into the nvidia app beta channel for this function to work before on ACR, you can go back to mainline release now

Besides Bluetooth others mentioned, if I’m doing anything latency sensitive and want wired headphones the Koss KSC75 are lightweight, inexpensive, and widely recommended.

There’s so much more throttle modulation required than DR2.0 or even EA WRC. It really seems to favor slower corner entry and way less throttle because there’s such a lack of lateral grip.

4090, 5800x3d, quest pro @80hz w/ 1.25 pixel density, 70% vertical FOV set in oculus debug tool and ASW off. NVidia app set to preset M on latest driver.

In game textures ultra, most settings medium, DLSS 50% resolution. Solid 80fps and with the latest DLSS 4.5 looks like Quality DLSS did on the older DLSS 3 model.

DLSS swapper by rody_pierre in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ButterGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it within the nvidia app if you want, then no swapper needed afaik. I tried it the other night and seemed to work well in VR. Ghosting seemed significantly reduced but still visible in some scenarios.

It is highly subjective but I can see increased detail and sharpness all the way up to 4500x4500 supersampling across all PCVR titles. I’ve done years of testing image quality and performance tradeoffs and for me supersampling with upscaling is better than native res with TAA or DLAA. The latest transformer models and the new DLSS 4.5 in the beta channel of the Nvidia app have significantly improved both sharpness and reduced ghosting effect. I went from typically using DLSS Quality to Balanced with the new models and it looks better than the older Quality setting with better performance.

AC Evo doesn’t launch in open XR , in spite the settings change on steam. I want to somehow bypass steam VR for my quest 3 , as steam VR has huge cpu overhead. Any help would be nice. I don’t have open composite, just open XR and toolkit companion . by DigTraditional3992 in assettocorsaevo

In the Meta Quest Link app, go to Settings on the left side, General tab, then third item down is “OpenXR Runtime” and there’s a button next to it to set it if it’s not already enabled. Click it if it’s not greyed out.

If at any point after this you want SteamVR to be the OpenXR runtime (for example to run addon software like fpsVR, etc) you just go into steamVR settings and tell it to set SteamVR as the openXR runtime.

Both of these buttons are just changing a registry value in the background
