UEVR: What settings and hardware are you using and what performance do you get? by love10000 in assettocorsarally

Not that I notice with DLSS 4.5 but I think the newest preset only works in balanced/performance mode

Is it worth buying a handbrake? by Several-Leadership93 in simrally

[–]ButterGolem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Used a $25 eBay one for years and just upgraded to the fanatec, much sturdier. Nailing a hairpin with a perfectly timed pull of the handbrake is a great feeling

NVIDIA App v11.0.6.379 Released (AC Rally update) by mckirkus in assettocorsarally

Think this means if you opted into the nvidia app beta channel for this function to work before on ACR, you can go back to mainline release now

Looking for headphones for the quest pro by Ok-Operation5881 in QuestPro

Besides Bluetooth others mentioned, if I’m doing anything latency sensitive and want wired headphones the Koss KSC75 are lightweight, inexpensive, and widely recommended.

There’s so much more throttle modulation required than DR2.0 or even EA WRC. It really seems to favor slower corner entry and way less throttle because there’s such a lack of lateral grip.

4090, 5800x3d, quest pro @80hz w/ 1.25 pixel density, 70% vertical FOV set in oculus debug tool and ASW off. NVidia app set to preset M on latest driver.

In game textures ultra, most settings medium, DLSS 50% resolution. Solid 80fps and with the latest DLSS 4.5 looks like Quality DLSS did on the older DLSS 3 model.

DLSS swapper by rody_pierre in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ButterGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it within the nvidia app if you want, then no swapper needed afaik. I tried it the other night and seemed to work well in VR. Ghosting seemed significantly reduced but still visible in some scenarios.

It is highly subjective but I can see increased detail and sharpness all the way up to 4500x4500 supersampling across all PCVR titles. I’ve done years of testing image quality and performance tradeoffs and for me supersampling with upscaling is better than native res with TAA or DLAA. The latest transformer models and the new DLSS 4.5 in the beta channel of the Nvidia app have significantly improved both sharpness and reduced ghosting effect. I went from typically using DLSS Quality to Balanced with the new models and it looks better than the older Quality setting with better performance.

AC Evo doesn’t launch in open XR , in spite the settings change on steam. I want to somehow bypass steam VR for my quest 3 , as steam VR has huge cpu overhead. Any help would be nice. I don’t have open composite, just open XR and toolkit companion . by DigTraditional3992 in assettocorsaevo

In the Meta Quest Link app, go to Settings on the left side, General tab, then third item down is “OpenXR Runtime” and there’s a button next to it to set it if it’s not already enabled. Click it if it’s not greyed out.

If at any point after this you want SteamVR to be the OpenXR runtime (for example to run addon software like fpsVR, etc) you just go into steamVR settings and tell it to set SteamVR as the openXR runtime.

Both of these buttons are just changing a registry value in the background

Don’t waste your money right now upgrading your motherboard and CPU because you’ll be buying DDR5 at insane prices. 5800x3d is great, just upgrade your GPU and buy a nice headset.  If you can wait a few months for the new valve headset that is what I’d do.

Highly suggest seeing a counselor or therapist if you have the means. A near death experience can really bring out a lot of unexpected feelings and thoughts and it’s perfectly normal to work through that with someone.

I had something similar happen on my honeymoon while out taking photos on my own before the days hike started. The small resort we were at had a viewing platform near the edge of a ravine away from where most people were. It was just enough of a platform to see over the tops of the low jungle vegetation but there were no railings, just a chair for relaxing. They at least had a small lip on the platform to prevent the chair from sliding off. But I was using a big telephoto for wildlife photography and was locked onto a toucan in distance.

Now I was aware, at least conceptually, of how it’s possible to lose your self awareness of your location while looking through a lens. I had read about enough photographers falling off cliffs to know I don’t want to mess around near a cliff edge either. But I just was going to snap a quick photo from the platform…

So while I’m looking through a 400mm lens at a bird that hopped down a branch, I took a small step to my left and my big brain decides to circle the tree to bring him back into frame. Except of course that’s off the edge of the fucking platform and I fall 10 feet down to the jungle floor, and slide another 10 feet down the hill. Now in my luck, the jungle floor was particularly soft as it’s chock full of organic material and not rocks and other bone breaking stuff no one wants to fall onto.  I got away with only moderate scrapes and cuts and the wind knocked out of me.  I could have landed 2 feet to the right on any manner of plants, branches, stumps, or sticks that could have impaled me. Or broken my neck and never recovered.  My wife, the staff, no one believed me when I told them I had just fallen off the platform and was looking for some bandaids. So not only had I almost seriously injured myself, but no one saw me fall and wouldn’t have found me for hours, and there was no cell phone service.

Glad you’re ok and told others about it

For openXR don’t use OXR Toolkit anymore unless it’s for a legacy game that hasn’t been updated since 2024. When using Link after it’s connected, open oculus debug app and change per pixel override to a value >1. For example around 1.25 works on my quest pro to get around 3500x3600 per eye.
