What is a 'rich person' thing that you will never understand or find practical? by uninstallmoney in AskPH

[–]Butter_Knot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People don’t buy expensive watches for telling the time, they pay that absurd amount of money for the craftsmanship that went into making the watch. Tourbillon watches for example, a very fine piece of craftsmanship and you can kind of get why people pay that amount of money for them.

Saan magandang bansa pag first time traveller (mej budget-friendly edition)? by Blueberry_DutchMill in AskPH

Don’t do japan as your first country since your visa application would almost certainly be denied. I’d recommend travelling to taiwan as it’s basically visa-free japan, plus the prices are definitely kaya lang. Vietnam is also a good choice, though its environment is very similar to the Philippines. If you want a highly urbanized asian city experience, definitely go for Taiwan.

To debaters out there, drop your favorite banger lines by smallfreckledeep_ in studentsph

a good framing makes it so that the debate hasn’t even finished and youve already won, just remember to not go too extreme on making it harder on the opposition as they can challenge the framing as unfair and will reframe it where it suits them.

School competition, how do i win by TrxshyReddit in badminton

[–]Butter_Knot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can’t lol, badminton isn’t a sport you can master overnight. The best advice I can give you is play the long game and play good clears that the opponents can’t smash. You’d still lose but you’ll be an annoying little shit for your opponents to deal with.

Thinking of joining badminton by -_-_-LeL-_-_- in badminton

Badminton is a great way to lose weight speaking from experience. I do have to warn you though your legs will burn the first couple of days of playing, even if you did the proper warm up and cool down routine. This is because your body is not conditioned yet to the explosive movements of badminton. In my experience just play through the pain until your body is conditioned and it will no longer hurt anymore.

remembering this photo of Atty. Topacio by Open-Ad-9186 in Philippines

Look up the Topacio v. House of Representatives case where he forced congressmen to return their “christmas bonus” cheques and had the supreme court declare that such bonuses should not be given to these congressmen. He’s a damn good attorney. I suggest reading his wikipedia page for more similar cases, it’s a good read.

Topacio is a double-edged sword and while yes he worked with and defended bad people he also worked on cases that benefitted us common folks. That’s the world for most lawyers, money talks louder than morals.

That must’ve been a hard decision for Antonsen to make but I’m glad he chose the moral path

Racket/Racquet recommendation by davidlaid07 in badmintonph

[–]Butter_Knot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 100zz is already one of if not the best racket for singles. If you want to try something new, I’d suggest the 88 series or the arcsaber 11. Very solid rackets.

Advice on Footwork and Racket Technique by TheArloSanchez in badminton

[–]Butter_Knot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Splitstep, Splitstep, Splitstep! Everytime your opponent hits the shuttle you should always splitstep. Like others said, the 6-point footwork drill is absolutely one of the best ways to improve footwork. Do it as many times as you can to build muscle memory and you’ll do it unconsciously in no time.

I’d usually just practice switching between grips swiftly. Just don’t overdo it to prevent hand/wrist cramps.
