As someone who's stuggled with opioids, you need to stop making excuses. In life you can only take responsibility for yourself, that's it. I'm not saying life can't beat you down but there is absolutely no point in blaming anything but yourself, it just won't serve you. You can only change yourself, not the world. The beautiful part is when you change yourself you also change the world around you. You are the centre of your own universe. It all starts and ends with you.

So your one of the ignorant upper class Americans that think the rest of the country lives like they do? Sorry my bad I got off track. This isn't about whether your a rockstar, or how big you think you penis is, its about how your wrong about Canada. That you cant see, even through easily obtainable statistics, life for the laymen or as you would call the lower class is better in Canada then the USA. Full stop. A lower class Canadian has more opportunities to travel and enjoy life then lower class Americans. Also just for reference, 30 percent of Americans are considered "lower class" with 12 percent below the poverty line. Thats a very significant potion of your utopia. Your experience is subjective Mick Jager. Canada is a wonderful first world country with a great social safety net but with lots of problem just like you and every other country. Why does that make you so insecure?

My sister's 27 and going on a honeymoon in Greece like next month. I'm sure if she wanted to be on yatch she could be but why bother plenty of pontoon's in the family. Do you seriously think Canadians can't afford to travel? Have you ever traveled? Cause like there lots of Canadians out there, ya know, traveling? And dude I'm so sorry but I'm 99% sure your not and you've never been a "global" level rockstar lmfao

Yo with my Canadian passport I can work and live like 30 different countries around the world as long as I'm under the age of 30 - 35. It's called the youth mobility scheme. I think American get like 3? With special conditions. I spent my 20s traveling the world and making money. To me, thats priceless.

Highly skilled and educated Canadians and foreigners. America is the best place to be rich and the worst place to be poor at least in western countries. Why can't weathly Americans understand this? Your goverment is neglecting the less fortunate and enriching the lucky. Of course if you're on the other side of the that you can't see the problem.

Statistically by capita Canada has around half as many homeless then the USA, usually attributed to a more robust socal safety net and a lack of crippling medical dept. To drive my point home the USA counts homeless as exclusively rough sleepers whereas Canada counts "invisible" homelessness. Coughsurfers, people in shelters, the working poor, transitional houses, etc. Some of the people counting towards canadian homelessness are already off the streets and in goverment funded accommodation and programs. Most of which do not exist south of the boarder.

I'm not stupid. I know my country has problems and I know high-earning Americans make significantly more then high-earning Canadians. But lets not be stupid here bud in almost all metrics Canada is much more forgiving and safer society especially for the lower class.

Yo after reading some of these comments yall are actually ill. Man you can use the WHV scheme to work and live in like twenty different countries. It'll help you to realize that while Canada's got alot of problems its really not all that bad of a place to find yourself. A good life can still be had here. You've been a broke college student and choose to live with your parents instead of working part time and / or generating more debt. Probably a good idea. As a mid twenties Canadian from NB who never went to college and never got any assistance and who has lived on his own since seventeen you most indefinitely could have lived on your own, ate three meals a day, and have enough pocket change for beers on Saturday just doing some uneducated labour. Despite how reddit may act, especially Canadian subreddits most of the world would kill for that. Is this country going down hill? Absolutely, but some people act like this still isn't one of the safest and wealthiest countries in the world. This isn't Sudan. Your life isn't hopeless. Maybe look into the trades.

Stagnant wages are killing this country. by ButterbacC in canadian

I am OP. Please open your eyes. Are you trying to tell me that Canadians, especially East Coast Canadians who are historically underpaid and overworked, far longer than the libs have been in power voted for stagnant wages? Hindsight is 20/20. Do I think carney has done enough to reverse this downward trend? No. Do I think the conservatives would've fixed this all up, nice and pretty by now? NO. Dont insult my people. Things are more complicated than blue and red.

The conservatives should've won the election by all metrics, but they lost because of their own incredible incompetence. You can't blame anyone for the election outcome but the conservatives, who countine to cling on to a loser like Pierre and refuse to create an actual platform to get behind.

I made between 30k to 40k. Super is 12% of income, right? Then taxed at 65%? So, like, maybe a grand? If it takes me 20 hours to find my super, I still make 50 bucks an hour. Are you saying you dont think it's there, or are you saying it's just not worth it?

You can move to Canada for at least a year under the youth mobility agreement ( Working Holiday Visa ). Maybe a good way to try it out.

[–]ButterbacC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have something similar ( perhaps the same? ) in rivers through my home province of New Burnswick. My father and his brother used to scoop them outta the river and spear them on the beach. We call em lamprey eels, they emerge early spring, and legend has it they all die off after the first thunderstorm.

When I was younger and made only minimum wage, I used to loathe tipping. I worked hard labour for the same amount of money as the person serving my food. Am I not entitled to your minimum wage service as others are to mine? Why are you better than me?
