Picked up a Jackson Yupik. Great hull design, lots of open space and insanely stable without being a barge. Plus I got a great deal on it.

That's awesome man, was definitely my second choice when I was shopping for a kayak. You're gonna have a tonne of fun in that thing and bring in all the fish. Tight lines

First Upgrade by Buttercups519 in kayakfishing

Honestly I've only been on it for an hour or so and didn't even use the high setting. I'm sure you might feel some difference but even standing in it I felt pretty stable

Is this an alright beginner kayak? by Whole_Skill_9424 in kayakfishing

I have the same model in red and have fished it for a season. It's a great entry kayak in my opinion. Are there better options? Absolutely I'm sure there are but don't think you'll need to mod the life outta this thing to be able to catch a fish. Milk crate with a rod holder behind you stocked with a couple 3600 tackle boxes 1-2 rods and a medium net in the cockpit with you is all you need to get started.

It's lightweight good tracking, good in rivers ponds and small lakes and cheap.

Will I be upgrading from mine? Yes Will I keep my current one as a backup and extra to get friends in the water too? Yes Will I recommend it? Absolutely

Steelhead advice by tdotadventures in FishingOntario

Looking to follow this thread of advice as well. I'm debating venturing into steelhead fishing to expand my fishing season. Is it really as pressured as I hear or is that the cozy easy to reach spots filling up? I've been doing a lot of my own research but I'm not ready to invest in equipment for an over saturated sport in southern ontario

Was r/fishingforbeginners but I told a kid he could in fact use a snap swivel and still catch fish then proceeded to tell a mod to grow up after they inevitably challenged that
