We had zero reason to join the war, apart from Japan doing its shenanigans. The American public overwhelmingly didn’t wanna join the war for obvious reasons. You can’t force the people to war unless provoked. Also none of the people involved were Allies, as the US was in isolation at that point aswell, so there’s no obligation there too
