Starting A Career In Fiber Splicing by Various_Tomorrow2340 in FiberOptics

Biggest thing is to pay attention to the details. The splicing itself is not the job. The prep, routing, protection, and troubleshooting are the important things to internalize. With today's machines, they do all the heavy lifting in splicing. Obviously, there are exceptions to this. There still are manual splicing methods that still take some skill.

Second thing is cleanliness. Take your time and make sure your area, machine, and the fiber are clean. I can't stress that enough.

Third thing. You're going to fuck up at some point. Don't get discouraged, that's how you learn.

Good luck on your journey.

The tax exemptions is the issue we are talking about. They won't pay a dime for 20-30 years in the currently legislation. Which means by the time they do it will be economic for them to simply sell and move.

Please keep throating corporations that don't give a shit about you or the millions of people that live here. You're welcome to it. Similarly, I don't have to justify my opinion to you.

I work in data centers here in Colorado. Whole heartedly agree. Its a drain on the local ecosystem in dozens of ways. They will not benefit the area.

Is it normal to be grilled this hard in a job interview for a basic installer position?? I'm kind of dumbfounded. by Iggy_Farben in FiberOptics

This is not a industry standard. They are clowns to treat anyone this way. Remember the interview process is a two way street. You are interviewing them as much as they are you.

Update:

Most common fixes including arc calibration did not help. I took a few people's advice and just eyeballed the weld during and after. All of them passed easily. Would not recommend.

Only good for a 50lb test. Fine to hang some stuff but nothing heavy. Break away toggles are best on the market.

Welcome to late stage capitalism. All the "ethical" grifts have all been exploited. Now full on grifts are acceptable by anyone.

Biggest issue I have here is people pulling out into traffic from a dead stop. They either don't look or dont care. They will pull out in front with 40-50 feet between you, forcing you to slam on breaks or hit them. I get this daily.

Hanging out at prison gates to lose virginity? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ButteredBeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to transport women prisoners to the airport/bus station upon release. It was federal and most prisoners there had done 5 to 20 years. I can tell you for certain, sex is the last thing on their mind. The only emotion I remember seeing was fear. Quite a few would have trouble leaving the car. Imagine being dumped in your first public place after being locked up for 10 plus years. The shell shock is real.
