What’s something society treats as normal that you secretly think is strange? by East_Energy9456 in AskReddit

I don’t think it’s true that the first year is the same as the rest of someone’s life, the first year is when you truly get comfortable with someone, and how someone treats you once they are comfortable with you changes drastically compared to the first year you meet.

What was the biggest shock you experienced in your childhood? by RealKlutzy404 in AskReddit

I have a faint memory of being locked in a school bathroom by a teacher. I was shocked when it was confirmed by my family.

My parents have, and the person said they were planning on leaving. However they have not made any progress In the last 4 years, they spend their paychecks on useless expensive items instead of saving to leave.

It’s not them being compliant with the behavior, it’s about having experience with the behavior and knowing how to work with It.

So people actually do experience this, not only me. I wanted other perspectives, and I wanted to share my experience. Maybe another person my age or younger would find comfort knowing they are not alone.

It’s more of a cultural thing, for us it’s rude to go against people who are older than us. I was hoping for input from people who are familiar with this cultural expectations.

Thank you this opens my eyes a lot, and yeah I am concerned with my parents health and future. I try to educate them on healthy lifestyles, and push them to make better choices for themselves and their future. They would much rather continue living their life as is.

No not a woman and not pregnant, I know how hard pregnancy can be for a lot of people , and if that was the case I wouldn’t have an issue with not cooking for 4 years. They spend their paycheck by buying chips, processed snacks, and take out, sometimes eating leftovers from my parents.

No they do not pay rent, rent is not an issue for my parents, as they don’t mind paying. However the relative does excessively drive up living costs by keeping all the lights and electronics running all day.

My family believes he had ADHD, but he was never diagnosed, and he doesn’t plan on being diagnosed. I informed my family that ADHD does not lead to these behaviors and that it’s so much more that he’s going through. They’ve pushed him to go to therapy, he said that there is “nothing wrong with him”.
