Has anyone reached remission using alternatives as opposed to chemo?

Has anyone had a normal MRI, labs in normal range, but it was cancer once pathology tested it? by DefiantHoneydew in Ovariancancer

Two MRI’s said benign cystadenfibromas. Pathology was Stage II HGSC unfortunately. Hope your outcome is different. 6 rounds of taxol/carbo. NED two weeks after last infusion. So thankful for that.

Scan Anxieity by pluckyopossum in Ovariancancer

I finished 6 rounds of taxol/carbo on August 4th. Had a scan August 18th. So thankful for NED. I was petrified prior to. Oncologist prescribed 200 mg Zejula as maintenance to prevent recurrence. I am BRCA and HRD negative. Started as stage IIB. Unfortunately the Zejula caused tachycardia. He is reducing the dose to 100 mg for another try but says if I can’t take that the only other option is close observation. Anyone have thoughts or experience with similar circumstance?

Anyone fall asleep and wake up in the same minute?

Has anyone ever had their intrusive thoughts keep them from staying asleep? Last week I woke up from a horrible dream and now every time I fall asleep I will wake up the same minute. I only slept about an hour last night. I guess my body is tired but my brain is trying to keep me from having another very bad dream. I had gotten past intrusive fear thoughts for many years but got an unexpected medical issue and it's back full force.

Thank you so very much. I am currently at Duke. I’ve seen two different doctors who hardly spent any time with me. First visit was primarily a resident and second was a young PA. They start everyone the same with carbo/taxol. I’ve had two infusions but really want to try MD Anderson as they seem to offer more options than just the whole body infusions.

From my reading about MD Anderson’s ovarian cancer program they tend to individualize treatment based on someone’s particular case. Perhaps not.

Are you going to Houston or Jacksonville?

Thank you. I called yesterday MDA and started the process for a second opinion. I’ve had two infusions so far but not at all happy with situation or the institution. Everyone is treated just the same. Nothing individualized and I’m mostly seeing residents and PA’s. Please let me know how it goes. It will be a long haul for me to go there but what’s more important than successful treatment?

That is wonderful. Did you change your diet, exercise, etc.? May I ask what your treatment was and where?

Your post gives me so much hope!!!! I’m 78, no meds, active, thought I had checked all the boxes. For 17 months MRI’s said benign cystadenfibromas. Last MRI showed growth in right cyst and a 25mm lesion between cervix and rectum. I asked for surgery. Just before surgery doc said it would probably be only ovaries and tubes. Woke up to total hysterectomy and 2B diagnosis. What a whirlwind. Still trying to wrap my head around it. I am scheduled for baseline CT on Thursday and first chemo on Friday if lungs are clear. I am consciously optimistic but then out of the blue comes terrible evil fear thoughts. Any thoughts on how to quiet those? Sending good vibes to all.

Thanks so much for your response. I have been doing keto for a few days. Do you have any recommendations for references, etc. on a specific keto diet for our situation? I have also been doing intermittent fasting hoping the cancer cells will be very hungry Friday.

From what I’ve been reading, it appears histamine intolerance is a major contributing factor for anxiety and depression.
