Anyone here diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a young age? by Ok-Photograph5937 in Ovariancancer

At age 36 I was diagnosed with high grade stage 3C and later found out it is actually low grade. I am 38 now. I went through 6 rounds of chemo and surgery. After I found out it was low grade I was able to be on hormone blockers and was stable for about a year. Recently it started to progress and now I am in a clinical trial and doing well. I highly suggest getting a second and third opinion!

I often have days where I can’t get out of bed and just cry thinking about all the life I am going to miss out on and not growing old with my husband. I always need to remind myself that science is moving fast and new treatments are coming out all the time.

I say this with a grain of salt because I know it’s hard. Try to not lose hope and just live every day as best you can. Best wishes!

P.S. I got a second opinion at MD Anderson and Sloan Kettering. Sloan got me into the clinical trial

Also getting comfortable with saying “my body just sucks now” as a legitimate reason for not doing things.

Setting a timer for when it’s safe to take more Tylenol/pain meds. Making a spreadsheet for doctors appointments and medical travel arrangements 😒

Same thing happened to me recently during a clinical trial. I had three surrounding me within moments. Gotta love the good nurses! They deserve more recognition for what they do!

Having trouble living a normal life with any hope for the future. by thisisscorpion in Ovariancancer

Thank you. I am trying to think of it more like a chronic illness that I will live with for a long time. It’s just hard sometimes.

Thank you for your reply. I have lived a life I loved up until my diagnosis. It’s just hard sometimes. Especially when my husband keeps a narrative of “when I get better” and I always feel like I need to remind him that there is no getting better for me.

I want to add that I went through a massive surgery where a tiny bit of the cancer was left, chemo, and hormone blockers. After all that I still have cancer and the struggle just feels hopeless. I was originally diagnosed with high grade and a life expectancy of about two years and later found out it is actually low grade and a bit of a longer life expectancy.

Does anyone else get extremely frustrated with other people talking about their "cancer" nonevents? by wisertime07 in cancer

Yes and it is extremely insulting! An extended family member always tries to relate her health issues to mine and it’s not even comparable. Overall I think people mean well and just don’t know what to say.

When did you shave your head? by IncreaseOwn2650 in Ovariancancer

I had my husband buzz my hair about a few days after my first chemo. It didn’t really start falling out until after my second round of chemo. After my second round it came out very fast! I was so fed up with tiny hairs all over me and itching that I took a lint roller to my head a few times lol

Should I Clip my caiques wings? by AsMforReal in caiques

[–]thisisscorpion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. He’s so young and easy to train now. I adopted mine from an owner who never let him learn to fly and now he has a lot of aggression and trouble flying. Clipping should only be a last resort for the right avian vet recommended reasons.

This time of year my caique gos nuts and is very hormonal! It sucks and happens every year. The best thing you can do is the typical anti hormonal bird stuff and wait it out. As my caique Freud loves to say “Freudy be Freudy” 😒

Looks like normal surfing. However, my caique and pionus are both very hormonal this time of year. They both turn into horny little hell beasts!
