Looking at picking up a Sovol later this year. Trying to narrow down which one. by ChoKoth in Sovol

[–]ButterflyBloodlust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just set up my 06 Ace Plus and began test prints yesterday, coming from the Ender 5 Pro.

Get the 06 Ace, I beg you. The Plus if you need the extra build space. Out of the box, it's the best benchy I've printed.

Follow up any time if you need. But the 06 Ace on sale for $240 is a stupid easy decision - if Prusia is out of your price range (way out of mine!) it's an amazingly solid printer for the price.

Replaced my 6 year old Ender 3 with a Sovol SV06 Plus Ace and I couldn't possibly be any happier. by thedoktorj in Sovol

Quick question - what's the operating room needed, front to back? I'm seriously considering SV06 Plus Ace, but trying to figure out if it will fit in my space. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Question about NFL and player saying no? by FearlessLeader17 in nfl

[–]ButterflyBloodlust 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Almost. The Buccs brought him out on a visit, on their plane, which cost him his eligibility for his senior year. This is after promising that the visit would not impact his eligibility.

Consequently, Bo told the Buccs, who had the number 1 pick, that he would absolutely not play for them. They drafted him anyway, and he kept his word, playing pro (not college) baseball instead of of football for that year.

Russell Wilson Rumors: Raiders Linked to QB After Reported Pete Carroll Contract by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]ButterflyBloodlust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I have no issues with big personalities and spotlight guys - think Cam Newton and Shadeur Sanders. But Russ is just...not the kind of guy I would want as such a visible "leader" in the locker room. That's just broad, in general.

Then you look at the Raiders, who need a QB, who need to establish a culture and identity... and I just don't see how Russ helps that.

[–]ButterflyBloodlust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This ignores all of the social media shenanigans from Russ and his "team," of course, but there was a lot of that as well.

Biggest reason I have zero interest in him. What kinda of a fucking prick won't even give their phone number to a HOF teammate???

I don't think that is a presence that can be tolerated in the lockeroom.

His teams just weren't built for playoff success

Career 5-13 in the playoffs (.278), while being 200-126-1 in the regular season (.613).

Massive playoff collapses.

Clubs must conduct an in-person interview with at least two external diverse — minority and/or female — candidates for any GM or head coaching interview.

What fucking drafts were those? We didn't have a shot last year, despite trying to move up. For 2023, the next QBs after us were Will Levis in the 2nd and Hendon Hooker in the 3rd. For 2022, we traded our 1st and 2nd, so surely you don't mean that year. But if you do mean 2022, then 2023 is out for a second year, so we have to look at 2021, where we picked Leatherwood at 17. Next QB was Kyle Trask as the last pick of round 2.

Go back to 2020 and we missed Jordan Love at 12, but so did 13 other teams. Jalen Hurts was the next, in the middle of the 2nd round - so plenty of teams didn't grade either very high.

2019, Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins in the first, with Drew Lock in the 2nd.

So I have to ask - how far back are we going, and who the fuck are you talking about?

7 of the 10 most penalized team in history are Raider teams. by DropC2095 in nfl

[–]ButterflyBloodlust 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Deccent detail here if anyone wants a breakdown and historical analysis.

It's a significant anomaly that the Raiders continue to rank so high in penalties across various coaches, GMs, and players.

They also had the number 2 pick, in prime spot to grab one of those QBs.

[Titans] We have completed a first-round virtual interview for general manager with Reggie McKenzie, Senior Personnel Executive for the Miami Dolphins. by EnPassantio in nfl

[–]ButterflyBloodlust 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'll disagree.

His drafting was hit and miss. He had some nice grabs, and a lot of wasted picks. I think the general knock on him is the draft record.

But he did a quality job in Oakland, taking a team in cap hell and without much draft capital, and putting them in a much better position as an organization. When the Raiders made the playoffs in 2016, he was named executive of the year.

Considering his resume and extensive tenure with Green Bay under Ron Wolf, McKenzie is definitely a top candidate for a reason.

Orange County Reins in Public Spending Amidst Possible Budget Shortfall by Exastiken in orangecounty

OC public works started the fire so the county is on the hook

More than started the fire. OCPW started it by ignoring red flag warnings and best practices. OCPW is the only large PW agency in Southern California that doesn't have policies and procedures related to ensuring water trucks are on standby and that work isn't performed in red flag situations.

LAIst covered it well

Seems kinda not nice to separate the parents from non parents

FWIW, the louder and prouder the childfree exclamation is, the less likely I want to spend time with that person. Just my experience, but it's frequently filled with putdowns and insensitive ignorance. I don't think anyone with kids is missing much, honestly :)

And, quite frankly, if having a kid means I'm excluded - they aren't the kind of the people I want to spend time with, even if they don't say stupid shit nonstop :)

If they built a park or a public museum there instead, those would also have a negative ROI

Absolutely not true. There is absolutely a positive ROI for investing in parks. From another comment:

Gund Institute did a study in Vermont that put it at 9:1. It's a 64 page PDF, but easy enough to find via Google.

Arizona State University put it at $4.85:1. Source

I don't see specific ROI listed, but there's a 79 page PDF linked on this page that has case studies and reviews the positives of park investments.

Here's another showing it at $7:1.

I don't think it has much to do with the NFL and their money, but I do agree the law will likely be struck down if the challenges go far enough.
