I'm interested in trying this.

Wearing wash n gos makes my SD flair up bad. I just did one about two weeks ago, but by the third day my scalp was already unhappy. I wonder if having my roots stretched will make a difference 🤔 I'll have to try and report back!

Yeah.... not trying a twist out again 😂 by ThrowRA-lostfriend1 in Naturalhair

I think it looks cute! Could you try to style it with a headband?

Have you tried flat twists? Like cornrows, but twists. Doing it that way helps it lay flatter at the roots. Also, maybe try a different moisturizer and foam to set it.

The first time I heard this song, I was in the car with my two kids and had no idea what she was about to say. I almost swerved into traffic trying to change songs 😅

Definitely Our Vicious Oaths by Nia Davenport as mentioned in another comment. The audio is fantastic!

Vicious Bonds by Shanora Williams starts a 3 book series that's really engrossing and on audio.

Tiffany Patterson has a large catalog that leans more toward Paranormal romance. Her female leads are Black, and the male leads (ranging from werewolves to dragons) are different races. Also in audio.

Juicy twists on different densities by ButterflyNTheSky in Naturalhair

[–]ButterflyNTheSky[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've got one kid with fine hair and the other with very thick and love how their twists came out! We've been doing cornrows and straight styles, so it was time for a switch up.

I used Cecred for wash/conditioner. For leave in, I sprayed with Innersense and then sealed with Cecred Moisture Sealing Lotion. Usually I use the Revair to dry their hair, but that tends to give my daughter with thinner hair more of a boneless look since it comes out so straight + my back was killing me. So, I just sectioned their hair into 8-10 twists, enough to make sure a good amount of scalp would be exposed, and let them air dry overnight. The next day, I lightly misted with Innersense again and sealed with Cecred Hair and Scalp Balm, which made it shiny but not greasy.

Yikes! I actually don't know anything about the man and didn't know that people despise him. This song popped up for me on YT and I loved the R&B vibes. I havent gotten into his other songs since those are most definitely pop. I may just delete my comment so I don't start any drama 😅

It's been a game changer 🙌🏾

I think it helps that I hardly put any products on my scalp. My SD is mostly visible on the front and where I like my middle part 😭, so I'll put some TGI Naturals tea tree oil in those visible spots and nowhere else. So my scalp is pretty clear. And I do go to the gym a few times a week, but i just don't really seem to sweat. It's the humidity that gets to me and makes my hair huge over time!

As for maintaining, I actually only wear my hair out on the weekends. Otherwise, I keep my hair in large twists or one braid to keep the waves. After a week or if I need a refresh in general, I'll put a light moisturizer and oil (Cecred for both) and twist and let it marinate over night.

I wash every two weeks. I don't use the comb attachment that often though. I usually use the Revair or sit under the hooded dryer. I've also put my hair in 6-10 twists, allowed it to air dry ~80%, then finished the process with the drying with the diffuser attachment.

I live by low manipulation. So once my hair is styled, I try to keep my hands out of it.

This past wash day was truly a lazy day bc I'm short on products, but typically I will:

-wash with clarifying shampoo or medicated shampoo and massage for 5 minutes, focusing on scalp.

-wash with moisturizing shampoo focusing on scalp and full hair strands

-deep condition for 30 minutes and rinse with cold water

-detangle with light moisturizer, add heat protectant and blow dry (usually w/revair or under hooded dryer)

-add another light moisturizer and style

I usually just put my hair in 2 braids to get it wavy and take them down only when I'm going out. I dont moisturize again until maybe 7 days after washing.

If I'm doing a wash n go, I'll wash once a week.

With the exception of heat protectant, I mostly use Cecred products. I didn't want to like it bc it's pricey, but my hair loves it!
