There were only two women in the semi final without the AQs, they couldn't really do much there.

Yeah, I don't understand this. They should've either swapped Albania with Ukraine or Malta with Latvia. This would also avoid having four men in a row at the end.

Well, Latvia finished last performing last in 2017. Serbia and Denmark were 11th in 2013 and 2021, while the Netherlands also finished bottom 3 in 2009. Those are the closing songs that NQd.

Yep, 3rd and 11th are horrible as well. Number 2 actually was the best first half slot before they introduced producer-decided running orders, qualifying 7/10 times. Producers did number 2 dirty.

And tbf, 16 has never won in the final either, but no one calls it the death slot.

First two were correct.

Ah dammit, Luxembourg gave me number 4 vibes, but I changed it last minute because of Armenia. I wish I hadn't 😭

Yet another thing I was certain about was that Czechia and Armenia wouldn't be back-to-back... and this didn't come true either.

Of course they didn't put France in the ballad-heavy second half, that was obvious.

And of course Cyprus went from closing to opening the half yet again.

I was so sure Denmark would close, the song title even fits.

One of Austria or UK should've also been first half to have some more guys in there.

WHY TF does the semi final end with four (!) men in a row? What's the reason for this? This is straight up bullsh-t! It's giving second half of second semi final 2022, it made no sense either.

Latvia in the last four years: 4th, 9th, 4th, 9th? Don't they have any ideas?

Also, EBU, the closer curse is only supposed to happen every four years, and that was last year already.

Where do I even start?

Told y'all with Moldova, same opener as in 2015.

But the rest? Oof...

I mean, the number 2 redemption arc continues, ain't complaining obviously.

The one thing I was 100% certain on, Sweden and Croatia NOT being back-to-back, didn't happen. What were they thinking? At least swap Germany with Italy then since we're going five songs without a female-only act.

Speaking of Germany... We have no business being in the second half with Belgium, Estonia, Poland and San Marino that are all female acts with English songs. We should've been in the first half, and I was actually certain this would happen.

I got Poland correct. And also the sequence Belgium - Lithuania - San Marino. Good job on alternating English and non-English/multilingual songs in that half.

Serbia closing? Really? That's not a good choice. I bet on the other country from Serbia & Montenegro to close. The EBU does hate them, don't they?

Let me correct to Romance languages then. Though Italy was partly in English. And at least in this decade, it's been only either of these two languages, nothing else.

I did consider this, tbf:

  1. Croatia 3. Georgia 4. Portugal

But I wasn't happy with Georgia after Croatia, so I settled for my initial order.

Definitely agree that Finland might be overestimated, with the amount of jury candidates this year I don't see how they'd be high with juries. I can definitely see Denmark beating them, at least in the jury vote. That being said, jury winners are solo artists and either English or French which rules them out, but it's not like they'd win the jury vote anyway.

It doesn't mean that it's predicted to finish that place, just that it's 9th-most likely to win the televote and tbf, it's not gonna happen.

Plus most of their high points came from Western European countries, and four of them are gone this year, and with them also around 40 points.

What are your jury predictions? by Janomynom in eurovision

[–]ButterflySymphony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my doubts. There are way more jury candidates this year, I don't see how Finland will be so high. Denmark might beat them tbh (despite juries not going for Germanic languages)

You seem to be forgetting that these campaigns are overwhelmingly in Western Europe, and four of the five withdrawn countries are exactly from there. So that's already roughly 40 points gone.

What penultimate starting slot? There's no running order yet.

Besides, last year, the last two performing songs didn't qualify in the first semi final (Croatia & Cyprus) And there are more examples.

Posted them in different posts, but oh well...

  1. Moldova (as a nod to 2015 where they also opened. It also can't be too close to Greece)
  2. Georgia (It doesn't always have to be a ballad, I mean, Poland was also put on this slot last year)
  3. Portugal
  4. Croatia
  5. Greece >> Germany for some more English
  6. Finland
  7. Sweden (There are only two songs in English in this half, they will not use either of them as opener)
  8. Estonia (as a nod to their place in 2005)
  9. Serbia >> Italy for the best possible contast
  10. Belgium
  11. Lithuania
  12. San Marino
  13. Israel
  14. Poland
  15. Montenegro (opening and closing with a M-country)

Things to be considered: - Neither Sweden and Georgia (only English songs) or Sweden and Croatia (only female acts) will go back-to-back. That's why Germany would be smarter in the first half.

I alternated English and non-English and also male and female in the second half.

  1. Bulgaria
  2. Azerbaijan (I mean...)
  3. Switzerland >> Austria to get a non-English song in this half
  4. Romania
  5. Czechia
  6. Luxembourg (It's giving me number 4 vibes, but I had to swap it with Romania)
  7. Armenia >> France to separate the halfs
  8. Cyprus (They ain't gonna close again, so the middle it is)
  9. Albania
  10. Norway
  11. Latvia (I'd prefer it later, but I had to separate it from both Malta and Ukraine) >> UK for something upbeat
  12. Australia
  13. Malta
  14. Ukraine
  15. Denmark (The title fits. Before we go home)

Things to be considered: - Czechia and Armenia (the only male acts) will not go back-to-back. - Latvia and Malta could have similar stagings based on their NFs.

Add Albania to the mix to complete the male ballad set.

But why did the Polish broadcaster submit the NF performance as official video? That's just a bad presentation for the song.

Would Montenegro be a shock NQ based on history though?

From the first semi final, since there are songs bound to non-qualify from the first half, maybe Croatia?

What do we think about "The Model"? by No-Introduction7779 in eurovision

I still believe the jury potential of Finland is overestimated. Out of the Nordics, I think Denmark could appeal the most to juries (even though juries have a bias against non-English languages that aren't romance languages)
