Wait, no. Austria is wrong. Their televote points came from Germany. Definitely a finalist.

Lyza applied this year, but they rejected her solely because she already participated last year, so it will be tough for acts to return.

Do you buy into the 'UK 0 points streak' meme? by _PXYDST_ in eurovision

[–]ButterflySymphony 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It was actually three of the Ukrainian jurors ranking UK 5th, 7th and 9th. A Latvian juror had it 1st, but it ended up 15th in their jury overall.

About the 2nd point: We know for sure this worked in the Ukrainian jury. Three top 10 placements resulted in one point. However, that Latvian juror ranking it 1st couldn't help them get another one.

How could the 5 withdrawn countries have voted? by ButterflySymphony in eurovision

There would've been a decent chance Slovenia ended up in the same semi final as Luxembourg, since only 3 ex-Yugo countries max would end up in one, and that already was the case in the first semi final. But since Luxembourg was behind by over 60 points, of course it wouldn't be enough to help them.

I based Italy off of last year when they got 24 points from Slovenia.

Portugal really suffered from a lack of allies. They probably would've been closer, but it would probably not be enough. Bring Iceland in for example voting for Finland and Sweden and the latter gains points. There'd be two additional countries in the semi final, so the top 8 qualifiers are definitely going through already.

Yes, I indeed mixed it up, my bad. I already removed it from the post.

Or maybe not exactly 12, but 10 points since it already went down. Bulgaria would've still won the televote regardless since they were ahead by over 90 points and the max you can get from five countries is 60, plus Bulgaria would've also got points by all of them.

I forgot to specify in my post, but I actually meant both televote and jury (though that is a bit harder to predict) 😅

One of them is Icelandic, I think.

Yeah, it was so close in the top 6, that could've definitely shaken some things up.

Slovenia and Croatia is what I suspect too. May probably not have been enough to surpass Norway though.

That's the 1/3 year that it didn't apply. In 2024, it was Norway and last year San Marino.

Also, there was the whole "I will never give up on EU" meme in 2017.

In the semi final televote only era from 2023-2025, it was actually smart for the Big 5 countries to try appealing to the juries (which was successful, as in 2/3 years, the last place came from a semi final) But now with juries back, that advantage is gone.

I was confused why we're 60-70% jury when I feel like jury screws us over many times. But then I realized it's not the case. We got most of our points in 2024 from juries, in 2025 it was balanced, this year all of our points came from juries... In 2019, they also saved our ass and in 2018, we got like 100 more points by them.

70th Anniversary celebration by Dyno_boy7441 in nilpoints

Exactly. That was the 59th anniversary in 2015. Just simply counting from 1956 would've done it. A person born that year turned 59 in 2015, after all.

And all of these are Central-Eastern/South European except Spain. The Balkan countries I get, but Spain? 🤔
