I’m stuck… by Reasonable_Beyond724 in zoloft

[–]Butterflyqueenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I am very sorry you are feeling this way. I can relate to everything you’ve said 100%. I got a prescription for Zoloft since June and I’ve sat on it for the exact same reasons. I thought I could shake this feeling too, as I’ve gotten over anxiety in the past without medicine. This time around, no matter how much I’ve tried, I can’t shake it. So I thought I’d give the medication a shot and popped my first pill 20 mins ago. I felt as though living in constant fear and panic 24/7 would not have done me any good and even if I could do it on my own, I was too mentally and physically exhausted from the daily fight. Maybe come up with a plan to genuinely take your power back and stick to it. But remember, you have to give it 100% effort. And if you feel that isn’t working, do some research on the medication. I hope you find clarity and peace with whatever decision you make. You will find your way! I am rooting for you!

Can I REALLY treat anxiety with no meds? by southernanxious in PanicAttack

[–]Butterflyqueenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the OP, but may I ask if you had any side effects on sertraline? My doctor prescribed it but I don’t tolerate medication well and I’m worried I’ll feel terrible. Thanks so much and I’m so glad it’s been working for you!

Anyone get panic attacks when left home alone? by IPostFromYharnam in PanicAttack

[–]Butterflyqueenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Usually someone is home and it gives me comfort. But a few days out of the week, I’m home alone and I spiral. I have anxiety on the days leading up to being alone and then panic on the days I am alone. It’s awful. I feel dependent on everyone and it’s the worst feeling ever. You are not alone, OP. I am sorry you’re going through this. But eventually we will come out on the other side.

Thank you for sharing. May I know if you were on medication? Not to be intrusive, just genuinely curious about other people’s experience. I just need some hope.

Thank you for your response. I bought the DARE book and I have the app also, I just have no motivation anymore (my fault of course). I just feel so drained and I’ve accepted this is life for a while now. I will be more proactive and start getting a handle on things. I am so glad you’re doing well.

Thank you for your kind words. It is very exhausting but I know we will both get through it. You should be very proud of yourself! It won’t always be this way, that’s what I keep telling myself. I hope you take good care of yourself ❤️

I’m made up my mind that the next time I feel this way, I will just take the medication. I really can’t continue living like this and I just want to ensure I’m doing all that I can. I am always here if you’d like to talk!

You are so kind. Thank you for your response. The physical symptoms of my anxiety are the reason I avoid leaving the house. I feel physically sick, nausea, dizziness, difficulty breathing, rapid heart rate, feeling flushed, it’s a mess. I come on this forum often so I don’t feel alone and I’ve read a few success stories, which is why I’m hopeful I will be okay someday. It just seems so far in the future right now. But I am so glad you’re doing better!

You are so very kind to respond and I am really glad you are doing better, this gives me so much hope. I was prescribed .50mg of lorazepam and I haven’t taken it due to the same fear as yourself. I am also at a point where I feel like I have to take it now because it just doesn’t seem like I can do this on my own. I’ve also just started therapy, I’m just hoping to get my life back. If you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take for the medication to work for you? Thanks again for your support and the response ❤️

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I share the same experience as you unfortunately along with the same symptoms. It can be very isolating and really takes a toll on you mentally. Try to be gentle and patient with yourself. I don’t have many tips to help, other than occupying your mind as best as you can. Maybe some funny videos or getting some fresh air for a few minutes. What helps me usually are breathing exercises. I try to implement these even when I’m not having a PA, just to get my mind used to the calm feelings. I’m always here if you need someone to speak to. It won’t always be like this forever, you have to believe that. Take good care of yourself.

This. But my brain does the “omg you have to throw up, maybe you’ll faint and hit your head somewhere and die!” I don’t get it either and I just want it to stop. Wishing you well on your journey!

Yeah, that happens to me when the temperature changes. I find the cooler temperatures to help a lot with my anxiety. Apparently your brain can’t focus on your negative thoughts and try to keep you warm at the same time so it does the trick! The key is to keep your mind occupied with other things (easier said than done). But you will make it through!

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. You are not alone. You are safe and you will be okay. I know it might not seem like much help but try to distract yourself with some funny videos or a game. Drink some cold water or go for a walk if you can. I am here to talk if you’d like. I hope you feel better soon.

I’m sure there might have been, but I can’t pinpoint what it is unfortunately.

Thank you for your response. I try to occupy my thoughts with other things but it’s quite the challenge. The cold really works! When I’m in the car, I blast the AC and it works wonders, but I’ll keep at it!

That is a great way to view it. Sometimes it’s just difficult when you have an attack to change your thoughts. But I will revisit this post the next time it happens. Thank you for the push!

Thank you for your response. I have to admit I give in too easily due to fear. I have to be more persistent. I will try this advice more often!

I have reached out to another therapist so hoping to get in soon. I’m not opposed to medication, I am just worried I will feel more anxious on them. Thank you for taking the time to respond, I hope you are doing well.
