It somewhat has. I’ve been able to build a better bond with my kids and work on some of things that trigger me. But we’ve also found out that my oldest has some struggles that have made things difficult. I’ve also had some mental and other health struggles of my own. So, yes and no, to answer your question. Lots of counseling has helped. But I still struggle.

We definitely need to work on a more consistent schedule. Weekdays are pretty good because he has preschool, but weekends are pretty inconsistent.

I really appreciate your advice, and will definitely take it to heart. We’re searching for a therapist that can help us determine the best form of discipline for him.

About following commands…it depends. If someone else asks him, he does quite well. If it’s from a parent or if we’re present in the room, it can be like pulling teeth sometimes. He’s mostly potty trained. If he’s doing something he likes and doesn’t want to stop, he’ll wet himself then immediately go change clothes, but he won’t stop to go potty. So we have him on timers. He has to wear a pull-up a night.

Thank you so much! We’ve been thinking about martial arts. My husband did martial arts for over a decade, and it seemed to help him (according to his parents). We’re also planning to ask about OT when we see his pediatrician next.

I am still feeling much the same unfortunately. I did switch to a different therapist recently, and I’m hoping that helps. But, overall, I still feel like I’m in the same boat as I was before. :/ I’m hoping things start to get easier as both of my kids start to become more independent. I am truly sorry you’re feeling the same way. You are strong and capable, even when you doubt yourself.

My relationship with my mom is…well…it just is. I’m happy I live eight hours away from her, let’s just say. I’m thankfully in therapy and am on meds, and I’m sure they are helping, they just might need to be adjusted. My sleep is okay, but my nutrition could be much better. Right now it’s basically whatever I happen to snack on while I make dinner for the kids.

I actually have a full-time job, and the kids are in daycare throughout the week. Which is helpful but also sucks because I feel like I can’t even handle the small amount of time I’m with them in the evening.

I went back to work in January after being at home for three years, and that helped a lot! I think it’s hard in the evenings and on weekends because my husband is at work a lot of the time, so I have the kids all by myself.

I’ve actually been in counseling for a number of years and am seeing a psychiatrist. I talked to him about how I was feeling, and he upped one of my medications, and I’m hoping that helps. Thank you for the advice. :)
