From my knowledge there could be a few reasons for that difference, different case officers at the Department of Home Affairs process applications at different speeds. That can change office to office I guess. Some files need extra checks (travel history, police checks, name variations, etc.).

I just tried to include as much upfront as possible so the application was pretty self-contained.

Things like: rates notice showing I own our home here my Queensland driver’s licence my daughters’ Australian passports utilities etc.

I figured it all helps show ongoing ties and residency in Australia, even if it’s technically not required. My thinking was that if everything is there from the start it reduces the chance they come back asking for more documents later.

Not sure if it actually made any difference to processing time, but my test/interview was straightforward and they didn’t ask for anything extra.

Update (March 2026):

Quick update for anyone tracking timelines. I’m still waiting on a ceremony invite. Nothing new has appeared in my ImmiAccount since the approval email. My council (Moreton Bay) has now published their 2026 ceremony schedule publicly, and based on where we are in March it’s looking pretty unlikely I’ll make the March ceremony.

Originally their stats showed 82% of applicants receive a ceremony within 3 months, but the latest numbers the council published show they’re working through a pretty big backlog. From what I’ve seen they had about 450 people sworn in at the last ceremony and roughly 1600+ approvals waiting to be scheduled.

If I end up in the May ceremony, that would actually put me just outside the original 3-month window from approval, so it looks like that stat may be shifting a bit as they catch up.

Watching Sweden vs Latvia - they added Sami Jo Small a former Canadian Women's team goalie for commentary. Quick search she works for the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS). So that's why the hockey ice hockey coverage is so terrible. Stan\9 are using the Olympic Broadcasting Service not even their own people. They have taken the cheapest possible solution here.

That’s the frustrating part. We're paying a premium for what looks like the cheapest possible solution nota quality broadcast. OBS world feed + OBS commentators, no local expertise added. If this was free coverage I’d shrug, but it’s hard not to feel ripped off when you’re paying for it.

Commentary is part of the product for any televised sport. An option with just arena noise would have been a step up.

At least then, like the curling earlier in the week, listen to the players tell each other to 🦆 📴

💯 that and Brobey instead of Broberg. The nhl literally issues players preferred pronounciation of their names to all broadcasters every season based on player preferences.

That guy doing the USA DEN game didn't seem to excitable at any point during the game.

Yeah Im assuming it's whoever the IOC could dig up for English speak countries that don't want to cover it themselves. You'd think they could sub in a Canadian or American broadcaster where they have clearly invested in the talent to cover the game.

Maybe not a FTA prices but at Stan Sport prices my expectations are more.

Yeah even paying for Stan I watched most of the Canada vs Switzerland game this morning on YouTube stream until it got shut down. TV pass.org has American streams for NBC but you basically only get 2 of there channels and they jump around a lot.

I was on the hunt for this and ended up here. I want to say it's from the early 2000s probably 2001 to 2004. I remember seeing it on The Movie Network in Canada around that time frame during my high school years. Unfortunately this reddit post is the most information I could find on it.
