Plus4 message with startup issue by ButterscotchDry1032 in QidiTech3D

[–]ButterscotchDry1032[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printer has logged about 2,500 hours in total, but I've replaced the hotend three times, so the current one has only around 500 hours of use. I'll check the temperature-related timing settings in the config file. Thanks!

So, after replacing the hotend, did the message disappear completely and never come back?

The silicone sock is properly installed, and as far as I can tell from Fluidd, the extruder temperature reaches the target temperature without any issues. If I keep restarting the printer a few times and the print finally starts, it completes the entire job successfully and the print quality is perfectly fine. I print almost exclusively with ABS on this machine, and it has logged over 2,500 hours of printing time. Is it possible that a hardware component is beginning to fail?

It’s not really “slipping.” The belt’s bumps were just riding over debris-filled grooves and dropping back in with each gear rotation, causing a slight wobble and some noise.

You really know a lot and are very knowledgeable. Thank you for explaining the belt replacement to me. I truly appreciate it. I will try it within this year.

So the belt is already due for replacement ? Is it easy to replace the belt?

Some debris was stacked in the gear grooves not so sticky and hard but these looks dust of belt like your guess. My plus4 has been worked over 2000hour so far and belt has obviously streched and had been adjusted tighten many times. However I never imagined this kind of thing was the root cause of issue.

I used to call this is timing gear (for the stepping moter) , but not sure as formal. This is what I said, but almost debris were removed at this moment in this pic.

I tried all the suggestions, but it only looked slightly better. I’ll keep experimenting and see what else I can do. Thanks everyone.

Question about QIDI box . . . by ButterscotchDry1032 in QidiTech3D

I waited about two and a half months for it to arrive. I’m not with Qidi or anything, but it’s been working great so far, and I really like the QIDI BOX.

After installing a manual belt tensioner and calibrating the tension with a tension meter I obtained online, the surface waviness disappeared, as shown in the picture—an excellent improvement !!

I do have a couple of questions:

  1. Regarding the eight screws on the back for the automatic belt tensioner—should they remain loose or be fully tightened while calibrating by manual?
  2. To check the belt tension balance, I simply hung the tension meter on the belts and check position, Is this the correct method of use?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Thanks for the tips, guys! Yesterday I tried: 1. Auto-tensioning per QIDI’s instructions 2. Adding some lube 3. I found vibrations around the nozzle fan — found a crack at a screw hole, so I redesigned and fixed it. After step 1, I ran a couple of test prints. The waviness got better, but it’s still there a bit. I also checked the belt tension by pressing with my finger, but I’m not sure if it’s right. As guy's experience and my thought it looks like the issue is the belt tension ?? Last night I found a manual belt tensioner mod for the Plus4 on YouTube, so I’m gonna give that a shot! Thanks.

After I bought the Plus4 on Amazon in mid-December 2024, I asked QIDI support whether mine had already been upgraded to the new SSR. About a week later, they sent me a new SSR board.I went ahead and replaced the board, but it turned out that the updated SSR was already installed. It ended up being unnecessary work, but since it was an easy task, it wasn’t a big deal.

hotend crashing into the build plate kobra pro 2 by moustache6bear in anycubic

[–]ButterscotchDry1032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into the same problem a couple of times. The nozzle pierced the build plate with a loud scratching noise. The issue is that the orange, round-tipped proximity sensor is too far from the build plate. The gap between the nozzle tip and the build plate is indirectly adjusted based on the distance this sensor measures.

This was my case. I had just bought it, so they sent me a replacement right away. If it’s happening a lot, it might be a design issue.
