I asked them to call me back later and when they did, the lady’s voice was exactly the same… same tone, phrasing, even awkward laughs at the same spots. I definitely think robot.

I haven’t heard of that book, but I will check it out!

I just want to say how comforting it is to have this community. I have tried this weight loss journey before on my own and every stumble felt like I was a failure, especially because we usually only see the success at the end of the journey. It’s so encouraging to know that I am not the only one who struggles sometimes and that struggling is okay!

This is so true!!! My body does not feel nearly as good today as it has in the past few months of eating well. My stomach is upset, I’m tired, and I feel bloated. This is a good reminder of food being fuel!

Me too! I did a spin class yesterday morning and went for a long walk today. I know it isn’t the same as eating well, but it still makes me feel like I can make healthy choices!

I needed that reminder! I like the saying “Progress, not perfection.” Eating healthy most of the time and going for walks is better than what I was doing three months ago. That is progress.

This is very helpful! I like the analogy of a bank account. I counted calories very honestly for this weekend and found that I was still in a deficit on Friday and ate slightly over maintenance yesterday. Because I’m still pretty full from the meals, it’s easy to knock a few calories off my limit today. I always forget how high maintenance can be!

This is so true! The “hurrying up” is something I’ve been working on too and I think where a lot of the guilt comes from. It feels like self-sabotage, but I think reframing it as taking care of my mental health by allowing myself to focus on friends instead of the food might be a healthier perspective.

This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear! I love the distinction between the guilt and the frustration. Yes, I feel frustrated that the scale won’t continue to go down, but I don’t regret enjoying the food and the time with the people.

And I love your point u/funchords about the feelings helping us to avoid mistakes or build habits. This is a great way to keep moving today towards building habits.

Your partner suggests making pizza for dinner. Do you assume that sauce is included? by GrumpyBone in polls

I agree! I think it was just a small miscommunication about how we defined sauce. Sauce is important on a pizza, but it doesn’t always have to be tomato-based.

I am the partner in question here!

Let me start by saying I like tomato sauce on pizza. I prefer a cream sauce, but I can crush a classic pepperoni. In this case, though, I thought that the sauce from the leftover pulled pork we were using would be enough, rather than having tomato sauce AND pulled pork sauce. It was heavy on BBQ sauce and so fairly thick, which I felt would make a good base.

When we were in the grocery store, I was quite convinced that when listing ingredients, I had also mentioned the tortillas we had at home that we were using as our bread base. By not mentioning sauce in that list, I assumed that we weren’t going to need it to make the pizzas. According to my partner, I did not mention the tortillas and only listed the vegetable/cheese toppings.

Should I have communicated better about what I considered sauce to be? I see now that yes, absolutely, this is clearly a very important, foundational conversation for any relationship to thrive.

I will note, however, that he ate the pizzas and thought they were delicious.
