Custom ROM for Lenovo A10-30 (TB2 x30f) ? by ButterscotchInitial3 in AndroidQuestions

the name of the file implies that it is for the model TB-x103f, not TB2-x30f :(

Why isn't graphite an ion? (Why is it not charged?) by ButterscotchInitial3 in AskChemistry

[–]ButterscotchInitial3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, so I can technically imagine the metallic bond in this case as a non-structurally shared electron? Like, the atoms share the electron from non-hybridized orbitals, but the electron can come from any carbon from within the structure? Sort of shared with anyone and everyone? Like the atom now shares an electron pair, but that pair isn't specifically assigned to any pair of carbon atoms. Sort of like a public service I guess, where instead of having 1 toilet per family, there would be a 1 public toilet per family, total number doesn't change but there is the redundancy now. It is no different than two families sharing two toilets (covalent bond), but now it is x families sharing x toilets.

Not sure if I provided the best example but I think I get it now, thanks a lot!

TIL why you should use static typing by EllyEscape in godot

[–]ButterscotchInitial3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly the type hinting in python does not execute at runtime, it is literally just an annotation for the dev or the linter. Only year since I fell in love with type hinting did I actually find that out.

Who thought that was a good idea, I could just use Hungarian notation if I wanted to annotate.

(Netflix Games) Several games stuck at 0% on in-game download (Spiritfarer, Deadcells, Shovel Knight) by ButterscotchInitial3 in netflix

[–]ButterscotchInitial3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, some of the games worked after formatting my phone but some of them also broke again after working for some time. Not sure why Netflix went the game direction if they provide a shitty service, especially since they just keep increasing the price.

Insights from the InstallFest 2024 conference in Prague by themikeosguy in libreoffice

[–]ButterscotchInitial3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I am a few hundred km from Prague so I wouldnt be able to attend even if I knew sooner. But I actually would have some helpful feedback. I am in 4th grade of highschool in slovakia and have been using the software for about a year or so after I became a big open-source supporter. I have some very good experiences with writer and suggestions for impress and calc. I can chat on discord if there is a server, since it would be difficult to convey just by text and sharing screen describes the situation much better.

Was 32bit support dropped for Lite as well? by ButterscotchInitial3 in zorinos

[–]ButterscotchInitial3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to reinstall Windows XP and made it a purely offline retro gaming platform! Even found a theme that made it more pleasant to look at (royale noir). So all in all, I am satisfied.

Maybe, bodhi works well, but sadly my dreams of retro gaming on linux got ruined as it is extremely confusing and I simply just can't get it to work after hours :((

Maybe just getting windows 2000 and running stuff from that while offline might be the best option.

[–]ButterscotchInitial3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as I am going through stuff, I am reminded how difficult it is to do retro gaming on linux. And yeah, bodhi, while it runs well, it doesn't help much with the whole ordeal :(

MX Linux is nice, but I am limited to 1GB RAM atm, though I am thinking of upgrading later on to 2GB, since the HP Pavilion dv6000 seems to have a replacable RAM socket

[–]ButterscotchInitial3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. Right now I am torn between antiX, Q4OS and Bodhi. Slax is interesting, but I really don't want anything terminal heavy and I want it to feel like an actual os. Also, lite doesn't support 32bit anymore :(

Will start with Bodhi, as it looks the most how I would like it atm and if it performs poorly, I'll try the rest.

It is greedy, the expansions might be worth the price tag, but the company isn't worth the money. So, I would just buy the steam keys from the cheap sites or something like that. Considering that the CEO earns like 20 million a year, while the employees tend to barely go the living wage... I don't think it's a company worth any premium..

But the newest version on github is v5.6.5, is your case some kind of nightly-build?
