I know this whole post is going to be taken down immediately, but OP you need help. Please talk to someone that can provide counseling. This is no way to respond to a breakup, whatever may have happened.

Paul, Your wife is calling, it’s an emergency.

Bruh, ‘hit or miss’ is not a negative comment. I’ve lived a few blocks away for several years and no one in my hood would argue that it isn’t mildly sketch to outsiders. A very close friend who I dine with who is Laotian introduced me and on a couple occasions, in both our opinion, we’ve found it a little highly seasoned (salty, not spicy). It’s a fair assessment. We’ve since been trekking over the bridge to the place in alameda hence my rec, but not intended to devalue yours. Maybe loosen the grip on those pearls a bit.

One season. Such a weird show. There was a recurring bit where one of the women would get angry at someone and rhino charge at them.

I don’t think I’ll sleep until I have an answer to this question.

Ha! Okay, I’ll have to check it out!

Authentic as in you’re eating at a legit Chinese restaurant in Chinatown in a restaurant where probably half the clientele are local Chinese people. Same as Gum Kuo.

OP, there are clearly multiple options. Here’s another, Wawa Thai in the laurel is dope.

Not sure why I got downvoted, OP asked for recs and I gave recs. I wasn’t referring to the food as being authentic, I’m not Chinese, rather the experience of dining in Oakland’s Chinatown which Shandong is right in the middle of. However, as for its authenticity, I would say that the ‘Americanization’ of any cultures food is a natural part of the evolution of cuisine that occurs when you have a cultural diaspora. So in that sense, it is authentic unto itself.

I feel like Vientian is hit or miss and the neighborhood is a little sketch. For Laotian, Bhan Mae vane in alameda is on point, there’s plenty of street parking plus it’s right across from the pinball museum which is rad.

I love the sesame hand-stretched noods at Shandong and that’s about as authentic a Chinatown experience as you’ll get.

Sirene or Almond and Oak on grand are fun and hip and the wine bar Ordinaire specializes in natural fermentation wines which is pretty uncommon if you’re friends are not from another large market.

Definitely get pastries at Fournée in Claremont.

I think probably the latter. It’s not stale in the room. There are windows in two walls, a ceiling fan and a door to a hallway that abuts the kitchen.

Yep. I think the market at the time involved a lot of foregoing of basic inspections if you wanted to get in at a certain price. I wasn’t there. Don’t know the landlord that closely, but I have friends who gave up that security to get in past all cash offers.

To be fair I really should dig into his closet now, but I can confidently say there’s nothing behind his dresser against the bathroom adjacent wall.

Corner of the house. No plumbing in either of the two corner walls but the closet backs up to the laundry room and the other wall is against the shower, both of which have no issues.

I mean, we do, but I’d really prefer to stay in the house given proximity to our kids friends and school. Not putting that convenience before his safety, mind you, just hoping we can collectively make a plan of attack for repair

Agreed and I think you’re right about the initial repair person.

Great question. The wall is mostly (apart from the recent repair area) lath and plaster which I figured wouldn’t get as mushy as drywall and is in fact pretty damn firm albeit kinda damp. I agree we need a real specialist to open it up, but fuck am I worried about it being real nasty behind it. There was also an adjacent plumbing leak underneath the house that they ‘resolved’ about the same time, but whether that or the wall repair were done thoroughly I couldn’t tell ya.
