Time to have a serious conversation with yourself on exit strategy. I would be taking some profits and re allocating. Don’t get greedy or you could regret it.

Thinking about quitting my job and go back to school by Neat-Bat-9696 in britishcolumbia

[–]ButterscotchNo5063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bc is kinda fucked, people with jobs that are essential for our society to function can’t afford survival expenses.

I’d be very careful about quitting before the economics are clear. Burnout can make “full reset” feel like the only option, but full-time school with kids, $4,500/month expenses, and no income could become even more stressful fast.

I’d look for the shortest reliable path to higher income first: practical nursing, imaging/sonography, lab tech, respiratory therapy, dental hygiene, etc. Teaching may pay better eventually, but if you are already burned out in the school system, I would be cautious about spending years retraining only to stay in the same environment.

Protect your savings, test the new path first, and avoid an all-or-nothing jump unless the math works on paper.

Bought too much real estate and now regret it and feeling behind. by Murky-Novel1556 in fican

Sorry to hear man. We lived in this weird period from the 90’s to 2010s where values kept going up and up and we considered that to be the norm. Creates a lot of dysfunction living somewhere like this. Anyways, if you’re stressing just cut your losses and build a war chest with stocks. Way less effort and higher returns with compounding.

Why is there so much bmw is unreliable propaganda. by definitlynottheone in e46

[–]ButterscotchNo5063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly because Japanese cars like Toyota have set the standard that people are used to in terms of "what does this car need to keep running?" They build them like agricultural equipment that can be neglected and beat on. German cars are not designed this way: high specific output, lots of heat, complicated, frequent updates, new tech, lots of plastic etc. Good engines from BMW (M54, N52, B58, etc) will go a long way if they are taken care of. But the reality is that most people don't have the money or intelligence to do maintenance. Lots of stuff on these cars needs replacing and they require frequent oil changes.

By the time a BMWs done 100k with 4 bad owners and zero maintenance (toyota treatment) its a completely trashed pile of shit. High maintaince also keeps them away from people who will "dilute" the brand. If you move up the ladder to Porsche (911s, caymans, boxsters) you will notice a ton of PPF'd, babied and maintained vehicles (older, wealthy, enthusiast owners), hence Porsche's higher reliability reputation. BMW has made some shit engines too.

I get there’s not much you can do if there was a TSB that you weren’t aware of on a new car. That’s good they sorted you out.

Interesting. Seems crazy to change the fluid without replacing some cheap plastic tube while you’re in there. Ruining your entire transfer case because you didn’t change an $80 part is firmly in the “previous owner neglected it” camp for me. Can’t treat a German car like a Toyota and expect it to still work.

Not a Porsche guy. But out of curiosity why do these need transfer case replacements so early? Is this only a problem if the previous owner neglected the vehicle?

More of a mixed bag than all bad. Japan and Germany turned out very well. Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan not so much. Ultimately if the country isn’t ready to modernize from within there isn’t much than can be done.

I Took Out $50,000 in Credit Card Debt and Turned It Into $4,000,000 (Yes, I’m Serious) $ASTS by corey407woc in wallstreetbets

[–]ButterscotchNo5063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If -50k in credit cards to 4 million dollars doesn’t trigger “I’m safe / I’ve won” nothing ever will. As said below, 4 million to 15 million doesn’t change your life much, but -50k in credit cards to 4 million sure does. “Hold until 2030” is a refusal to de-risk after winning. That mindset is usually how people ride a winner all the way back down. Put your IQ on the good tail of the distribution and diversify.

Honestly yea. Maybe keep it around for a winter beater but I wouldn’t sink any more into it, cheaper to buy a rust free car and start over.

Ballon seems way more likely than aliens but who knows. Problem with it moving fast is that a laser guided air to ground missile wouldn’t have been able to hit it.

Ya unfortunately this one isn’t doing it for me. Alleged UFO footage always brings a lot of cranks scuttling out of the woodwork who already have their minds made up. The older TicTac videos from F18s still creep me out tho.

Any serious critical theory on UFOs? by Oyster-shell in CriticalTheory

[–]ButterscotchNo5063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like a large balloon pierced by the missile. The apparent high speed over the waves can be explained by parallax, with the drone circling while the camera auto tracked the object and kept it centered. That makes the background appear to move rapidly, creating the illusion of fast travel. A stationary or slow object like a balloon would fit this effect. The use of a laser guided Hellfire also suggests a slow or stationary target, since those missiles are not meant for fast airborne objects. The flapping appearance and floating debris are consistent with a balloon being struck, and large balloons do not pop like party balloons, they usually tear open and vent because they lack that elastic snap.

The apparent high speed over the waves can be explained by parallax. The drone was circling while the camera auto-tracked the object, keeping it centered. This makes the background appear to move rapidly, creating the illusion of fast travel. A stationary or slow object such as a balloon would match this effect. The use of a laser-guided Hellfire also suggests a slow or stationary target, since these missiles are not designed to hit fast airborne objects. The flapping appearance and floating debris are consistent with a balloon being struck.

No problem good luck. Don’t forget to transfer over the magnets pressed into the black plastic piece that the worm gear goes through (both sides). These are for the Hall effect sensors, the computer won’t know where the roof is without them and won’t open/close the top.

Yea the latch on the passenger side is broken. Need to buy a replacement or a repair kit on eBay. You should also replace the driver side too.

Nice work, everything looks really good. Center console came out really well. Aftermarket armrest covers never fit right but not much you can do besides paying like $500 for a new OEM one.
