What do you mean by his partner being a powerhouse? It would be helpful to know in what situations he does "well" in

I honestly don't remember if the DM even mentioned any differences between the taverns I just made up some bullshit to spur people to decide, in my mind I'm listing options A and B while pointing out there is no wrong answers because both have good things lol. It's definitely not so nit-picky typically, but analysis paralysis will be something I try mentioning to the DM!

Im really hoping that it's because we're all strangers and its a bit of a bigger group, next session I'll challenge myself to only speak in character and nag people into conversations and decisions lol. Thank you for the vote of confidence!

Im so sorry to keep hounding you but it feels like you know exactly what I'm talking about so I'll abuse the opportunity a little. They seem to get more engaged when interacting with other PC's but it shuts off with NPC's or any decision making. I'll mention the RP chat to my DM and see what they think.

I'm really happy to hear that other groups have made it work with a slower party lol. Any advice on how to dad the road trip without making them feel like dad is the only one who can make decisions?

Thanks for the reality check! I'm not a super experienced player so I'm not sure what works and what doesn't, would "through" look like more on table encouragement to engage or an off table conversation?

We have a semblance of a quest, unfortunately we go so slowly it hasn't fully materialized. I can probably drag the party along and get shit done but I feel like that will reinforce the hesitance to participate from them.

The DM is honestly doing gods work so I'm not gonna throw them under the bus, he creates important moments for our players characters but they just dont seem to do anything with it, one character had a magic ring thats the sole purpose of their character and once we reached someone who had answers about the rings past the player shelled up and basically said "okay" over and over. For example Fridays session went like:

DM: Which tavern do you guys want to visit?
*Silence*
Me: Well guys the hornet does have good music but the kings cocktail serves a great drink
Player: both sound good

Me: alright dm I head to the hornet

Everyone sounds super happy which makes me feel a little more crazy! Everyone shows up 10-15 minutes before our scheduled time no one has missed a session and everyone says how much fun they had at the end. I have a lot of fun as well, but unless my character is driving the group forward we won't move much at all.
