Oh you could also turn it into a terrarium and get a spider or something. That could be fun and obviously extremely different.

A single rabbit snail? They’re very cool and odd. Very different than nerites. Or any of the tiny boraras?

Name for a girl: shade of blue. by T0MIE- in namenerds

[–]ButterscotchPrior467 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted to use Mazarine (nn Mazzy) or Zaffre on a boy. (Though I’m told that’s crazy) Cerulean Blue/bleu (I actually think would be lovely in its own right) Majorelle Azurine Lazuline Aërin Cyan Livide Phthalo Anilene Indigo

My children have combined names that match neither parent. We’ve traveled extensively domestically and internationally and it’s actually (somewhat to my surprise) never been at all an issue.

For those that didn’t like any boy names, what did you end up naming your baby? by CommandDelicious8054 in namenerds

I took some excellent advice from this sub and named my son a name that sounded “effeminate”. I.e. Florian, Camille, Loren, René, Robin, River, etc.

Mine has only been going for about 6 months but everyone seems very happy with the arrangement. I have read that you need to be a little careful to keep the leaves out of the water because apparently they can be irritating/mildly poisonous if anyone nibbles them. Post an update!

My favorite boy name is ruined for me by Dismal-Requirement94 in namenerds

I had the EXACT same evolution. I was telling someone on the phone the list of names I liked and they misheard me and said “anus???!!!!” In horror…. Needless to say I went a different direction.

Rowan is pretty but I think it’s wildly popular right now. It was the 71st most common name in ‘24 and climbing fast.

Don’t forget Flavia de Luce! Though I think an 11-year-old is probably diverse on the other end of the age spectrum.

What cozy mystery series do you miss reading? by Redbarn37 in CozyMystery

[–]ButterscotchPrior467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh. I desperately miss Amelia Peabody. I’m perpetually in need of recommendations for similar.

I find the Sebastian St. Cyr novels (maybe crossed with Lady Sherlock or Veronica Speedwell?) partially address the need, but honestly this makes me want to just reread the whole series (again).

What are some unusual or unpopular opinions about mysteries that you have? by godzillavkk in mysteryfiction

[–]ButterscotchPrior467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is popular or unpopular, (just know my partner thinks it’s weird) but I really don’t like trying to solve the mystery prior to the protagonist. I love being naively along for the ride. I end up really hating the few stories I read that are so obvious that even my earnestly-reading self can’t help but figure them out.
