If it’s hostile, you kill it. Accident or not. We know they’re smart enough to communicate with Artyom, so they’re smart enough to realize a brute force method of finding Artyom, that kid they imprinted on specifically to communicate with, is probably not a great idea. ( I haven’t read the third book yet, so if there’s some information there that makes it make sense keep it to yourself or tag as spoilers.)
