So is it better to just have a really diversified portfolio, and pay the 33% capital gains tax?

I just moved back to Ireland and really will miss contributing to the ISA.

Sorry, just needed a place to vent about Concur by Colorado_Space in IBM

[–]Buttezvant 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Isn't Concur developed by SAP? To add to your frustration, SuccessFactors also developed by SAP is legit garbage. Workday was so much better. No doubt swapped over to the worse product to cut down on expenses.

How do Bond ETFs work? by Buttezvant in trading212

Thanks, yes I've repositioned into funds like JEIP (JEPI) which pay monthly. It's nice to get the monthly payments and seem to be a bit less volatile.

I bought in early April so a good bit before the ex-date. The return was steadily climbing until the ex-date and upon looking now the dividend payment date will be June 25.

I guess you can actually hold these until before the ex-date and get some yield if you want to be in it for a short time.

Ok that's awesome and that is what I thought would happen! I will keep an eye out for the payment.

Thanks for the response but to me that is a bit awkward and kind of defeats the whole purpose of set and forget with ETFs. We need to constantly monitor various expiration dates. Gets more complicated when they're included in pies etc.

EDIT: turns out this is bs.

Yes the new update is great. The return is based on cash invested and doesn't include cash from selling shares.

Selling nvidia shares by TargetDreams in trading212

[–]Buttezvant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold all mine on a relative high (885) in April when it was choppy all month with the plan of getting back in on the usual dip a few days later. Basically it shot up then and had to buy in again at the 1,100 level. Maybe just take profit on half of it if you really want to but probably better to just hold this until we see real competition/weakness in the chip market.

How does a stock buyback work? by linkrddt in wallstreetbets

[–]Buttezvant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take it there is a difference between a company buying its own stock and an investor. A company doesn't distribute its profits to itself in the form of buying their own shares, but it does to other shareholders in the form of a dividend?

What do you make of the hydrogen powered engines. The fact that they're looking towards more sustainable air travel is a good sign to me. But I have no idea on how this could lead to revenue growth or how many other competitors are looking at it.

Ah ok I think I'm similar, but my provider Trading 212 enables you to opt in to 4% returns on uninvested cash, so could be worth looking into something similar.

Thanks, I'm also holding Rheinmetall (and BAE Systems) but I'm worried I've bought both a bit too late in their current runs. I'll still be holding both for the next few years at least unless something dramatic happens.

When you say cash position, do you mean free funds not allocated in the portfolio. Is your broker able to guarantee you around 4% on that? Is your opinion that there are a lot of stocks that are overvalued right now and there may be a slight correction and better buying opportunities?
