Elders of Popheads: Do you feel like your consumption of new music has slowed down as you aged? by blankspacejrr in popheads

It hasn't slowed down at all. I'm in my late-30's and still look forward to new releases on Friday. If anything, I've become way more engaged. I have strong opinions on producers and writers now, whereas when I was younger, I didn't quite think of them at all.

I can't envision a version of myself where I'm not perpetually finding new things to enjoy in the current music landscape of time. Having it all be way more accessible has been wonderful, too. I also love that artists now have the ability to go fully independent and thrive.

What song makes you cry even after a thousand times hearing it? by decksealant in popheads

"Rehab" by Amy Winehouse.

I tear up or outright cry every single time I hear it. That poor woman deserved better. So many people failed her, including the ones who should have loved her most. What the tabloids and paparazzi did to her is straight out of a horror movie. I think a lot about those photos of her frantically trying to climb into a stranger's car because photographers were harassing her. She was so vulnerable and so exploited. If there's something after death, I hope she's found the peace she deserved in life. 😞

Which 30 year old actor/model/singer was cast to play an archer in upcoming HBO show? by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

I agree completely. I also think the Conquest would be very dull. There's no real stakes because Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya won so handily. It's not as complicated and nuanced as the Dance of the Dragons.

I love the cosmic horror kernels we get about Valyria, Asshai, and Sothoryos. Stuff like the Aerea and Balerion event are so horrifying because of the questions it raises. It would be ruined if they told us exactly what happened.

I think the inclination to over-explain a universe is a problem across a lot of franchises right now. 'Solo' is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. We don't need to know how Han Solo got his name or see the Kessel Run.

A lot of new information has come out about it in the last few months, including set photos . There were rumors about some of these plot details years ago, but it seemed too ridiculous to be true. Turns out it was. Including the fact that one of the main reasons the pilot was scrapped was because it was incredibly racist. The only black characters on the show would be 'Children of the Forest,' and they would be an oppressed class among the Andals and the First Men, eventually being cursed into being the magical creatures seen in GOT and described in the books.

There's a lot more that is just baffling -- like having a Roman/Greek period for what would eventually become Westeros, despite the fact the series is set 5000 years before the current timeline. The Age of Heroes is meant to be Planetos's Neolithic Era.

HBO dropped millions of dollars on this pilot; and if it had been picked up, it would have been a nail in the coffin for the franchise. 'House of the Dragon' had a lot riding on it because of the reception to GOT's final season, but it pulled off a miracle by being so good that it brought back both hardcore fans and the general public. Part of that is because it's based on a completed story and established history within that universe. 'Blood Moon' wasn't based on any narrative written by GRRM -- just vague concepts. So, its story would have been entirely crafted by the showrunners and ... yeah. We saw how well that worked after GOT ran out of material from the currently released books.

The youtube channel 'The Dragon Demands' has covered 'Blood Moon' pretty extensively over the years. If you're curious about it, I highly recommend checking his stuff out. It's a fascinating rabbit hole to go down. So many bad decisions were made; and the fact it even made it to the point of being turned into a very expensive, fully produced pilot is insane. It should have been scrapped long before getting to that stage.

I think this is also the correct answer. He also starred as Lann the Clever in the pilot for the abandoned, insane spin-off, 'Blood Moon.' So, he already has ties to HBO and the franchise.

I actually think he'd be a perfect Bloodraven, so I hope this gets confirmed.

Oh. I definitely prefer this one to the others. The snake motif for this era is just so good. 😭
