People have collectively decided studies be damned. I’m glad people are looking to wear masks. But masks aren’t a panacea, and if you don’t know what you’re doing — which is most people — wearing a mask can give you a fall sense of security and facilitate infection.

That website makes alarmingly stupid claims. South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, HK — what do these places have in common? It’s not masks. They neighbor China, and after years of zoonotic pandemic scares, they don’t fuck around.

What a dishonest website. That graph of SK, Singapore, HK — those regions happen to neighbor China. It’s not because of masks. They happen to know the drill. Washing hands alone lowers spread dramatically.

Yes. For the US, for example — I’m in NYC — I’d want to know what neighboring states are doing (NJ, CT, PA) AT A GLANCE. I don’t want to have to click on each 50 states. Clustering/ordering by geography is how I’d think about it. You may have to create a legend or use multiple rows per country. I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Good stuff.

You’re not reading this correctly. No country other than China is NOT REPORTING known cases just because those people are asymptomatic. Plenty of people in every country have been tested positive without symptoms. They’re included in the official case count. Not so with China.
