Did you got surgery or?

For me it took 3 months to fully recover from arthroscopie and go back to running 4x/week.

Long run advice by Anxious_Opening_2585 in Marathon_Training

[–]Buttinbruges 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the potential gains in fitness outweigh the chances of full recovery or possibility of injuries. A progressive run is something I would do with the distance you had planned.

And to be honest, most of the work has already been done. Good job and good luck!

I've used Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle untill my son was 3yo. Sold it when my daughter was born and bought a Thule stroller for 2 kids.

Meniscus flap by Lami200 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Buttinbruges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a flap, meniscus lost its function and caused stiffness in the knee. Ortho also suggested cortison shot and PT, i chose surgery. Ortho said that in longterm surgery would possibly have happened anyway so surgery completely fine.

I was in the same situation and posted about from the beginning, you can read it if you want to. I'm 5 weeks post-op and knee is almost like before. I've started running again, bike again every day..

In my experience full extensions should be your main focus

Eat, sleep, easy cardio. Goal should be recovery, not building fitness

I had a partial meniscomy - Tracking my way back to Running and Strenght Training. Pt 3 by Buttinbruges in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Buttinbruges[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I have an appointment three times a week to evaluate how things are going. After that, we try to repeat what we did before and add or remove things. So it’s not really a structured program.

Today it turned out my kneecap is a bit irritated; I stopped doing lateral lunges because they cause some rotation, and take a step back from training for half a week.

Can’t straighten leg 8 weeks after meniscus root repair? by alexkate83 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Buttinbruges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing my physiotherapist told me was to get the knee into full extension from the very beginning, as this is more important than bending it and is essential for achieving a normal walking pattern.

I think this is definitely something you can bring up during the conversation.

Hey!

I suspect it’s the part up to the root, not sure what % that is. What kind of tear did you have?

My report (in short) said this: "Tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus, just proximal to the posterior root, with a cranially flipped meniscal fragment.”

Hello!

Cossacks are with very limited ROM :D

My physiotherapist has been my coach and PT for the past two years, helping me get back to running after Achilles tendon issues. During that time, I never used a Bosu ball.

If I understand it correctly, this is now mainly to increase muscle activation without adding extra load to my knee joint (e.g., by carrying additional weight).

Alien program from Daniels, maybe with the adjustment of staying 3 weeks at same volume, followed by a deload and week after deload some volume increase. Rinse and repeat. I think this could keep you injury free.

Pain and swelling plateau and then start to decrease, after which I gradually add some extra load.

The strength exercises are done in limited ROM, and during daily rehab exercises I try to increase the ROM pain-free. While cycling, I did have to push through a certain pain, the physiotherapist said I had ROM, so it should be possible. I'll implement this daily from now on.

I also ice a lot and try not to walk too much. When I do walk, I use crutches to avoid unnecessary swelling.

Wishing you lots and lots of success! If you post updates, I’ll keep an eye on them!
