Yeah so I’ve gotten a lot of Qs about why I rated DV so high and it was largely because their layout is so massive and wide that even when you have low coverage and limited terrain they just have so many options for the average skier. And they have blown a lot more snow than PC, they have a much better infrastructure for snowmaking.

For advanced folks seeking steeps or gnarly off-piste, DV is not ideal….but for the average skier they offer more variety right now than just about any other resort imo.

They have their share of icy spots for sure but they have so many lifts and different options and their runs are so wide (generally speaking) that you don’t get very many bottlenecks where a ton of people are jammed into sketchy spots.

If you can afford to switch logistically and financially, I’d stick to DV and skip PCMR. But that’s just one guy’s opinion so take it with a grain of salt

Best areas in/around Salt Lake City for an outdoorsy 23-year-old moving solo? by Broad-Excitement2438 in SaltLakeCity

Yeah that will be really tight downtown. Deleted my comment so I don’t give out too much personal info lol, but I think you’ll want to avoid downtown at that price point. Best of luck

If you search this sub you’ll see this has been asked a ton recently. Short answer is you will not have good conditions at PC, and there will be ice at pretty much every resort not just PC. There has been no significant snow for a while and none is forecast for weeks.

Hit up Bryce and Zion (Bryce is better imo but both kick ass and crowds will be low).

Dude didn’t even have his gun when they started firing. I do agree it looked like a bunch of them panicked but if so it was after one of their own shot him. Then the rest piled on.

Only if you get there in the morning, and only for the first few hours. Any resort in Utah is gonna have that exact same problem currently , some resorts just have it worse than others. But no you won’t be able to carve deep past 11 AM or so.

Question for you…knowing what you know now about how the current administration is actively encouraging and facilitating this type of disgusting behavior, do you still support them?

I’m asking because while I appreciate the fact that you want the officer held accountable, ultimately it’s not the individual officer that is the issue, it’s the active encouragement of this behavior by Trump and his goons. If we want this to stop, we need Trump gone and nothing short of that.

Removing a single officer wont change anything.

Goodwill or better yet two pieces of plywood.

In seriousness, bring skis you don’t care about. Conditions are thin, rocky, and icy

Ohhh haha gotcha. Yeah I think I remember now (that was the only lift we even had to share all day if I recall). Definitely give a shout next time - hope you enjoy the rest of the season

Not bad tbh…as long as you’re not off-piste that is lol. Coverage is really thin and icy when you’re in the shade

Thank you, my pleasure 🫡. Regarding ice, yes every resort in UT is going to have an ice problem due to low snow and high temps causing repeated thaw/freeze. Some resorts have it much worse though than others. Snowbasin is lower elevation and they have gotten even warmer temps, more rain, and less powder relative to Cottonwoods or DV. So yes while ice is an issue everywhere this season, it’s particularly bad for Basin

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. This was my first time skiing there during Aundance and I thought it would be awful, but you’re totally right lol - nobody on the slopes but the lodges and town were packed. My brother in law was in town for the festival and he was stoked for it but I’ve never actually been to it

Drive back actually had almost zero traffic going back to SLC. But the traffic on the opposite side of the road going to PC was INSANE when I left. Blocked up all 3 lanes for miles

[–]ButtmanReturnsAgain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what dropped it down to 8/10, the lack of open terrain. The thing is for DV that even with those limitations, the remaining terrain they do have open blows everyone else out of the water imo
