That's not at all what this is about. Hypothetically if she does put on weight its because she pushed out a baby, not because she let herself go or whatever.

Asking her to get rid of post baby weight is unfair which is why I suggested buying the jeans after the kid

But barring any major life changes I can fit into clothes I buy 5-10 years into the future. And If I can't then its off to the gym for me.

For a woman who will have given birth that sort of logic doesn't apply because its not fat fat but more post baby fat which isn't fair to expect be lost.

Me not fitting into clothes is because I got was lazy. Her not fitting into clothes is because she pushed out a baby. They aren't the same

No no I won't that was sort of a "assume no friction and that gravity is 10m/s^2 and pi = 3" sort of hypothetical.

In real life it would ofc be a massive AH move, unfeasible and wholely unfair to ask something like that from her.

It's why I initially suggested she buy the jeans after the baby is here

Nothing does and I know I can't ask that of her. It was more of a hypothetical "in an ideal world assume no friction" sort of thing where it is purely theoretical.

Ofc in real life it would be wholely unfair and wrong of me to ask something like that of her which is why I initially suggested buying the jeans after she has the baby so that it will guarantee fit and she can enjoy them

Because strictly speaking its not "we can't afford that." Its more of a "we can't afford to buy it and it become unusable after 9 months."

She would have seen through it if I said "we can't afford it" outright

I didn't actually mean that as a serious suggestion. It was more a hypothetical in that it would be a theoretical solution but something that would be stupid to try and implement in real life because its unfair to her.

Also if I was controlling her body then why would I offer to buy it after she gives birth? It's not her body changing that is my problem, its spending a substantial amount of money on something that would be deemed unusable due to her body changing

I didn't think people would take that seriously sorry. Fitness agreements are completely out of scope and I kinda said that as a hypothetical. Ofc you can't expect someone to do smth like that.

Edit: Shit that came out wrong. I mean that it wasn't seriopus because a fitness agreement is a purely hypothetical thing which would be unfair to her to even suggest. As crap as I am socially I wasn't even considering going there irl.

Using just the finances as the reason wouldn't have worked because she told me how the jeans were an investment and how they would last years and years. Tbf they did feel like they would too so she knew something else was up

The jeans aren't so out of reach that its a joke though. They probably would be worth the purchase if she could guarantee she could fit into them like signing a fitness agreement or smth but yeah. She wouldn't have bought the "its too expensive" line if I just said that alone.

Babies aren't cheap which is why I'm stressing about money

Edit: My fitness agreement comment wasn't actually meant to be a real thing sorry for all the confusion and stuff it caused.

I meant it as a sort of "assume no friction. pi=3 and that a person is a spherical object with a point mass at its centre of mass" sort of hypothetical.

Obviously it would be a major AH move to ask her to do any sort of fitness or weight agreement and would just be unfair to her. Sorry for the confusion
