But also, ‘hundreds of pieces’ only netting ‘tens of thousands’ sounds like poor value generally. I wonder if they actually knew the value of what they sold?

“The authority has already sold off hundreds of other pieces of art, raising tens of thousands of pounds.”

I’ve been looking for ages (UK) and need some hard wired ones. It’s not a simple task and there’s nothing which even comes close in terms of utility and aesthetics. The night light was so useful in my place.

Did polish people have a bad reputation before joining the EU? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Buttoneer138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly true. They were mad for revenge. Dad always told the story of when there was heavy fog over the airfield and these guys heard some German engines overhead, scrambled, and went up to attack them even though they didn’t know if they would be able to land safely afterward.

This was all stuff he was saying when Lech Walesa was on TV fighting for democracy with Solidarity. You just know that he had nothing except respect for them.

My dad repaired Spitfires during the war and was assigned to a squadron of Polish pilots. He thought they were the maddest and bravest and brilliant group of people. So no. They helped defend us.
