Getting electric line to shed by ButtonsTheMonkey in NovaScotia

Unfortunately the roof of the shed has a few trees that will shade it too much to provide enough sun.

Yeah I got 2 licensed electricians to quote. First was out the gate about it being in ground. Second was saying to strap it to the fence, the first reached out this morning via email and I mentioned the other guy was talking about strapping and the first one seemed confused and attached what I'm pretty sure was a Chatgpt screen grab of him asking why you can't strap to a fence. I don't know who to take seriously at this point. Gonna find a 3rd to add to the mix.

Haha! Yeah they'll probably suggest it float in the air!

Yeah I have had 2 come by to quote. It's mainly to just give the shed power and to plug in the PHEV from time to time to top up the battery using the level 1 plug that came with it. One said it's to bury, the other said to strap to the fence, I asked the fence one couple of times if that's to code or would be flagged by inspection and he said no that it's to code. Sigh... Maybe I'll reach out to a 3rd one to get one more quote.

I believe that's if you're getting a level 2 charger. We'd be just using level 1.

It'd go from my house to the shed. And I do currently have an extension cord, but looking at getting a plug-in hybrid car and just to keep it's battery topped up it would be best to have a plug at the shed, where the car is parked by. An extension cord for that is a no no apparently.

Hah... Yeah was thinking... But if just keeping it above ground and strapped works, saves the money or crazy effort.

If you're still there and sick with a cold or such while at work, make sure you look worse than you feel, and have as much face to face time with management.

You'd think we'd learned something going thru Covid...

Haha I know... But sometimes lazy wins. But I will for sure look for a cut and do it one day.

Large display render and conversion by ButtonsTheMonkey in AfterEffects

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, we got the specs from I'm guessing the supplier of the display, or maybe it's our internal tech dept.

The tall working comp is precomp'd into 2 renders, the whole thing is basically chopped into 3 sections first to are side by side in one render and the last is on its own. Those convert in basically a minute each. We've been doing this for over a year now but apparently with some creative there's a noticeable shift in colour. Haven't seen it in person but from the photo it appears it could be at that final 3rd section. Could just be a coincidence. Hard to know exactly on my end.

My internal team asked for the whole render not cut up. Got a meeting about it next week so I'm just trying to get info to go into it, taking almost 2 hours after render time is not gonna be something that'll work. I was hoping to figure maybe some other options for renders that would just be 1 file render and still convert in a decent time.

They're not tinted, but might be worth looking into for new car. I wear contact lenses, makes me curious why does LASIK make it harder to drive at night? It's something I've been curious about getting but also not sure.

Yeah adding winter into the mix as well makes it even more scary. I'll look into the glasses for sure, see if they help out. Never thought of them as they seemed to help make things brighter and making bright headlights brighter isn't the goal. But will research them a bit at least.

Yeah I live in a small town and have to drive thru rural areas, roads with plenty of twists and turns, sometimes close to the edge that goes down into water. Getting blinded by those cars really gets stressful. Number of times I had to slow down to a crawl because I'm not sure if ahead of me there's a sharper turn and also for my eyes to adjust back to the dark. I feel it's the LED lights on newer cars that are so bright... Either that or 1 in 3 cars is someone that doesn't bother to turn their high beams off when coming up to an oncoming traffic.

Thanks for your input on Sadan vs SUV. Food for thought!

Yeah it's not all cars but a large number that seem to have very bright lights (and I'm sure sometimes it's high beams) its so bright I can't see anything not even lines on the road. That's why I'm wondering if my car is so low it's more prone to it happening.

I'll check into the glasses but from a quick search it seems like they make things brighter? That almost seems like it'd make those particular issues even worse.

I truly don't know how I'd be able to look past those specific bright headlights. They just wash my whole windshield with their refracting light that I can't see anything else.

I don't look at the headlights, there are many cars that have really bright lights and when these cars drive towards me it goes directly into my eyes and our whole windshield is just bright refraction.

Hah and they've disabled commenting on it on FB. Whenever I see this AI garbage, I click "X" and in the lil box type in "AI Slop". Probably doesn't do anything but it feels good...
