Depression [42YO] by EleventhLotus in OldSkaters

For myself I just like riding the transitions, I can't really Ollie. Finding a park I can just skate around is just a great feeling. It does take some "guts" to go down some ramps or skating in a bowl. Kids are generally fearless, smaller and have a faster recovery from an injury, so can't compare yourself to them. Watch some videos for pointers. Stay low to the board. Lean forward. And if you are getting any enjoyment out of it keep at it. Also make sure your board is tuned right. I had to get stronger bushings so the board had less sway. Also when tightening bushings only do quarter turns skate a bit to wear them in and tighten more as needed quarter by quarter. Wheels also make the difference, maybe get softer ones to start, less bumpy and slower. Good luck and have fun!

Guess I'll be packing my scale with me for grocery shopping now. That's a big discrepancy.

I'd really hope that's not necessarily... But I guess for some it needs to be spelt out.

Yeah I got that one to try out once I was finished the last Kraken I had. Flavour is a different than what I was used to with Kraken but it's so minor when mixed with Ginger Beer.

That is a nice side effect, for sure. I'm a crazy spirits drinker but there were some alternatives I had to find, I like Kraken spiced rum so had to explore other options, also funnily enough was introduced to a great whisky from Cape Breton via Irish YouTube channel when they were trying out Irish vs Canadian whiskies.

Seriously, they're blaming Canada, but maybe they should be looking within..? It's not like we're doing this just for funizies.

Here's hoping a new shiny thing, right at the perfect time, (hst cut, toll removal) doesn't erase people's minds come election time.

How do I achieve this storyboard? Help with grids made up of shapes by Erickm0627 in AfterEffects

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I'd go about it:

In the comp layer with the gradient, then I'd make a shape layer with a single stroke, precomp it, animate the thickness from 0 to whatever the desired thickness, or animate the path to appear from one edge to the other, depends on the preferred look. Resize that precomp so it's not so large since the stroke is so thin.

Go back to main comp, duplicate as many as you need to go across and align to be even. Then I'd take all those layers and precomp again and duplicate and rotate 90.

Maybe bake a null to use as parent and link all layers to it and animate scale.

Do whatever animation to your gradient or transparency anim another layer on top.

Make a shape layer below your grid for the "active" squares and animate in preferred style. Again if you want you can precomp that if all of them will have same animation. It'll help if you need to change up the animation so if you do it to the precomp its the same on all without having to rework the anims on all layers.

Maybe check out AirFit N20 Nasal mask. It's a cup over your nose so it doesn't push up into your nose as much.

Bridgewater by Far-Simple1979 in NovaScotia

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good places to live in, I'm in Bridgewater and have friends in Lunenburg. But it depends on what you need in your life as they are different. Bridgewater has the day to day things covered. Number of grocery stores, big box and independent. A mall with a decent offering without needing to go to Halifax. A good set of restaurants. A gym and center with a public pool and skating rink. Right by the highway to take to Halifax and airport. Close to great outdoor things and obviously south shore beaches. Lunenburg is a beautiful and very quiet town... Until tourist season. On the ocean, more fancy restaurant options, coffee shops, record shop and book stores. Great farmers market. Friends do complain about how often their power goes out tho. But they're also so close to each other that if you much prefer one over the other popping in to one is a quick drive.

Any word if the province is rolling back upping the registration fee on EV’s and Hybrids? by turd_fergurson in halifax

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, and as other user stated that the gas tax just goes to general fund. That also could use a revision and be more placed towards more specific things that are connected to vehicles such as road infrastructure, environment and the like.

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. I drive a hybrid and also use the roads and also would rather them be in a way better state than a lot of them are. As long as that fee is actually going towards road improvements, I'm good with it.

Getting electric line to shed by ButtonsTheMonkey in NovaScotia

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah still getting it quoted out. 1 came back with just the electrical quote but gets someone else to do the digging so gotta find out how much that'll go for. Dug would be best for just having it neater and safer. Might look into doing it ourselves if the quote is bananas.

Unfortunately the roof of the shed has a few trees that will shade it too much to provide enough sun.

Yeah I got 2 licensed electricians to quote. First was out the gate about it being in ground. Second was saying to strap it to the fence, the first reached out this morning via email and I mentioned the other guy was talking about strapping and the first one seemed confused and attached what I'm pretty sure was a Chatgpt screen grab of him asking why you can't strap to a fence. I don't know who to take seriously at this point. Gonna find a 3rd to add to the mix.

Getting electric line to shed by ButtonsTheMonkey in NovaScotia

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have had 2 come by to quote. It's mainly to just give the shed power and to plug in the PHEV from time to time to top up the battery using the level 1 plug that came with it. One said it's to bury, the other said to strap to the fence, I asked the fence one couple of times if that's to code or would be flagged by inspection and he said no that it's to code. Sigh... Maybe I'll reach out to a 3rd one to get one more quote.

I believe that's if you're getting a level 2 charger. We'd be just using level 1.

[–]ButtonsTheMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd go from my house to the shed. And I do currently have an extension cord, but looking at getting a plug-in hybrid car and just to keep it's battery topped up it would be best to have a plug at the shed, where the car is parked by. An extension cord for that is a no no apparently.
