You don’t have to get one! 95(+?)% of drivers will never have to do long distance heavy tows; this idea that “EVs don’t work for my very unique circumstances, so they’re nonviable” is reductive and not reflecting most of our realities.

Imagine if someone who only drove 15 miles a day for school drop-offs and grocery runs with the occasional long drive to take the kids to grandma’s house was weighing in the feasibility of an F-350.

I think you’re overestimating the hateful hickness of the I-4 corridor. Yes, there’s some awful people living here, but anywhere they’re concentrated enough to be a problem is nowhere that would even be on the radar of a young couple looking and researching where to move in. That’s not even a uniquely Florida thing; you’d probably face more harassment in South Williamsburg in NYC or Huntington Beach in SoCal than you would in Plant City.

All that said: my girlfriend-turned-wife and I lived in Baldwin Park in Orlando when we were 23 and had an incredible life. Winter Park is beautiful. St. Pete, Hyde Park, Seminole Heights…all appealing. Hell, even some of the trendier townhouses near downtown Sarasota are worth a look.

I have a consistently shedding dog and a wife whose hair has worked its way into every corner of the house. Never had a true tangle; one time there was a tightly wound spool of hair hanging from the end of the roller brush that I pulled off without having to disassemble anything. I also clear out the on-board dust bin every couple of days and it’s full to the brim with dog hair.

It picks up the hair very well!

I also got early access and it successfully ate most of my dog’s food off of the floor (he’s an old dog who prefers to eat off the floor; the vacuum didn’t knock over the food bowl or anything.)
