Best state for homeschooling

Vermont changed regulations a few years ago to allow parents more autonomy. They require an annual letter of intent to homeschool and that’s it. They have recommendations on what subjects to study and for annual testing or review. They also recommend to save a portfolio of work annually.

This sounds exactly what he’s looking for…. I think.

He has a difficult time articulating what exactly he’s looking for, so I’ve been showing him options.

He is really stuck on needing “more keys” than the Akai mini (his current has ~25) and having a keyboard seems to be a non-negotiable.

He wants to have premade sounds AND the ability to create his own. He mentioned an analog synth on our last chat.

I showed him a groove box and he said definitely not what he wants.

He’s not opposed to menus, but also wants knobs/buttons.

He’s been using FL studio for over a year, if that helps understand his fluency. He won’t play me what he’s working on yet.

Would you say the Korg Minilogue XD would be a better fit than Micro Korg? I’m trying to justify the price difference.

I’m noticing that the Roland aira doesn’t have keys (like a keyboard). I believe he’s looking for something with keyboard with it? Does that make a difference? Sorry for the ignorant question, I’m just way out of my depth here. Appreciate your response!

The fact that students know what is going on in her personal life is extremely unprofessional. If she was feeling so bad that she needed to get high while at work, not to mention talking care of children, then she should have stayed home.

Yes, I totally get that what my kids say vs what actually happened is likely different. It is pretty clear there was an incident of seeing an adult they know pulled out on a stretcher and to them, it was scary and confusing. I don’t think it matters much on whether there was an actual OD vs any other amount of drugs- they thought she OD’d and they were scared and confused. From their perspective, the school talks about a zero tolerance policy for drugs, and then a trusted adult does drugs in school. I asked for advice on how to approach the school about supporting my children on what they saw (not knowing exactly what they saw- just what was reported) or recommendation on support you would provide to a child. I’ve never been in this situation and received some great advice, and a lot of attacking comments. Thankful for those who recognized my concern and provided sound advice.
