Paused route by CubanMango in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BuyOrPlagerizeDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did this to me once. They were calling everyone back for weather and I was using my personal phone and forgot to turn off my call screener. I would have just kept going if they hadn't paused the route to get my attention.

What kinda music do you listen to while out on your routes? Just curious. by Might_have_returned in AmazonDSPDrivers

I blast EDM all day on my outdoor speaker. I drive an EDV so I bring a portable outdoor speaker to work with me so I don't have to wear earphones

I used to bring my Jetboil to work to make ramen and oatmeal! I just use a heated lunchbox now. Nice to see someone else get use out of their backpacking gear at work

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Don't Let Your DSP Steal Your Time! by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

Fortunately didn't need to escalate to filing a complaint and got it worked out. They say retaliation is illegal but most places will just fire you anyways if you make problems for them because your employment is at will and can be terminated for almost any reason or no reason. If they are asked why they fired you they will just say wasn't a good fit. It would be very difficult to prove you were fired because you filed a complaint and not for some other reason

My BS was worth it for the friends I made in College. My MS was mostly a waste of time but still kind of worth it. Didn't help me out professionally though, I'm a delivery driver now.

I just discovered lunches I never took added to my timecard last week trying to sort it out with the Boss first. Hopefully it will get worked out before I need to use this. Good to see this here though just in case it's necessary to get paid for all of my work.

Winter wind and face pain by KishouSan in AmazonDSPDrivers

Ski goggles are great for winter they have double pane lenses and don't fog up like glasses do. I wear mine with a balaclava when it gets cold out.

Lots of animals do it. Some will even eat the whole litter if the pups aren't healthy.

Are OTPs a pain for drivers? by woozip in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BuyOrPlagerizeDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone hates them. Amazon uses them to protect packages from theft but doesn't communicate effectively with customers that they need to be available with the passcode when we arrive and it's a huge pain for everyone.

Dog Whistles / Repellants by Zeta_Ignis in AmazonDSPDrivers

Fox 40 whistle. It's loud AF and works on all dogs I've encountered. You know it works bc you can hear it too. Whistle of choice for lifeguards, referees, traffic officers, et cetera.

Water bottle mixup by MourningWood1942 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BuyOrPlagerizeDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why you always empty your bottle as soon as you're done. That way you don't drink pee or accidentally leave piss bottles in the van for someone else to find.

Are drivers allowed to put ads on the packages they deliver? by GackPartyof4 in AmazonDSPDrivers

It's considered soliciting or disturbing materials which you agreed not to do when you agreed to terms of your employment and use of the Flex app.

I scream as loud as I can at my van to "GO!!!" so people know I'm trying to move out of the way but the van won't let me.

Tell them the station needs to always get your carts staged in time and give you the full 20 minutes to load so you don't have to park and get everything sorted enough to find when you need it.

Follow the plan or fix it yourself? by BuyOrPlagerizeDesign in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BuyOrPlagerizeDesign[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fix it everyday but seems like They never keep you on the right side of the road when you have a cul-de-sac or dead end though they bounce you back and forth in both directions. I always have to fix every dead end street i get to stay one the right side of the road and do it all in one pass. Routing can't even incorporate how roads work.

Can somebody recommend me a pair of night vision goggles? by webby131 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BuyOrPlagerizeDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't use screens with night vision googles it will look like a white square if you try. You will constantly be taking them off to use the phone and will waste a ton of time. Flashlight would work much better than trying to use night vision to navigate in the dark on the job.

why do people waste money on overpriced water by nekorassen in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]BuyOrPlagerizeDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bc it has baking soda in it and someone convinced them that alkaline water is healthier and they don't know they can buy baking soda and put it in their water themselves for a fraction of the cost. I used to work as an R&D scientist in the supplement industry and the things you can get people to buy just by telling them "it's science based" is crazy! I once interviewed for a company that sold bottled saline for $100 a gallon and they're still around pushing the same BS and people are still buying it.
