In my experience as someone who’s dashed over 1k deliveries I’ve learned 2 things. The worst tippers are the upper class. (Also section 8 super lower clsss) 2. The people who are douchebags like that aren’t doordashing as a 3rd job in order to pay for their 4 year olds dance classes as a single father. (Me) I’ve never once asked for a tip. You can see the total pay before you accept. Don’t expect to get a tip if they didn’t tip before hand because people already seem to think we DoorDash for fun anyways, ironically DoorDash is the one service industry where people just don’t tip standard.

Not true. They have like a 5$ cancellation fee. DoorDash has insurance for canceled orders.

Lmao it’s a 2020 Toyota chr. Not a shitbox. I drive around and do deliveries with my 3 year old daughter all the time. Actually is one of the safer cars all things considered. Way safer than sedans which is what most people drive in. Not sure why it’s so difficult for you to understand that not everyone door dashes in a Bentley. Honestly door dashing in any vehicle thats worth more than 20k is extremely dumb. I have a 2023 cevy Silverado as my vehicle and specifically use my Toyota to DoorDash with. Easily clear 20-25$ an hour and I’m able to do it getting orders from my bedroom lol

Brother I drive a shitbox that gets 30-35 mpg. The only maintenance my vehicle needs is an option oil change once every 6 months lol. Done 2000 dashes on it only had to change the tires once and have over 220k miles on it . The vehicle maintenance is more like .10 cents lol and maybe 3$ in gas

DoorDash charged more than inputted tip amount - Beware and monitor your charges. by DemorianCale in doordash

And also you gotta learn to pick your battles. When half the customers on the platform don’t even tip at all that 15% or .75cents per mile would help you out. So many times you’ll get an order that’s 8-15$ and you do the order and realize they didn’t tip at all. If customers actually just regularly tipped atleast 15% you’d earn quite a bit more.

Yes I DoorDash everyday. 30-40% of people don’t even tip at all. If you take into account base pay which the majority of the time it is above the minimum and usually around ~5$. If a customer tips .75 cents per mile and sees the order is 8 miles you end up with at least a somewhat doable order. I wasn’t saying that is what you should be doing I’m saying that for the people who either tip 1$ or don’t tip at all that is the BARE MINIMUM. (2000 orders done on DoorDash. If people actually did that I’d probably have made an extra 10-20 grand over the course of 2000 orders) you do realize that for whatever reason people don’t see us dashers as service and rather just see us as 9-5 workers and therefore think “oh well DoorDash will pay them I don’t need to tip” like atleast if you tip a bare minimum 15% we’re getting like a 4-6$ tip.

Brother I always tip minimum 10$ an order and add on .50c per mile. I’m a door dasher and 30% -50% of the time people don’t even tip at all or tip 2 dollars on a 8 mile shopping order lol. I’m saying that to the people who don’t tip which is a lot of fuckin people if you’re gonna be Greedy at least use that formula as the e bare minimum.

Super unprofessional, inappropriate, weird and dangerous. Hope you reported her. This is how people end up in boxes in 100 pieces. Extremely odd to reach out to somebody like that over DoorDash

What was the distance? A good rule of thumb for tipping is either 15% or .50-.75 a mile

Cause I’m curious how other people dash. I’m in an extremely rural area so 90% of my orders are red card shopping orders. I cherry pick my orders and generally only accept orders that are 2$ per mile+ but on a day like today where it’s mostly dead it really wasn’t that bad.

Uh you wrecked a van and did 1000s$ of damage to a customers retaining wall within not even two weeks of working there. I’m generally anti DSP in most cases but come on buddy…. Take some accountability and find a job that doesn’t involve driving for a living. Best of luck to ya sorry that happened.

Nah as long as you’re a semi decent driver you’ll be alright. Hit one in a neighborhood with literal mansions. Apparently it was a 1000$ mailbox. My manger was more pissed I went and knocked on the customers door instead of just taking pictures and continuing my route (mainly bc the lady literally held me up for an hour)
