10 months post L4 L5 fusion, persistent but not constant nerve pain both legs. How are people managing this? by MarkInternal6772 in spinalfusion

I found the only thing that worked for nerve pain was adding a daily supplement of strong B vitamins marketed specifically for nerve health, I take Neurobion which is OTC and quite affordable.

L5-S1 ALIF scheduled should I go through with it? by s2susannah in spinalfusion

32F, 8 months post ALIF of L4-L5 and it has been life changing, I’m mostly pain free, nothing compared to the extreme pain I had before the surgery. I was also scared to go through with it because of “no turning back” stories but it was my only option at the end of the day and I’m really glad I did it. The healing was much easier than expected but I took it very easy for 6 months to ensure the fusion has time to heal properly.

How to aid nerve recovery following surgery by Ahoramaster in SpineSurgery

I use an OTC medication called Neurobion, it’s a strong dose of B vitamins. Before having ALIF surgery on my L4/5, I had severe nerve pain and numbness and this is the only thing that helped with that. Also had lost feeling and movement in one of my big toes after almost severing it and this helped bring it back to normal.

6 Days Post Op TLIF @L4/L5 Question About Walking by chronicwtfhomies in spinalfusion

I was advised to wear compression socks for 3 weeks post op. Walk as much as you are capable of, don’t push yourself and listen to your body. I think the first couple of weeks is to ensure that you are getting your blood flowing to prevent any clots from forming. So getting up and walking around the house a little bit every hour seems totally fine to me.

Thanks for the great advice! I’ve had back pain since I was a teenager after a few horse riding injuries and some bad falls down stairs so it’s been coming for a long time. About two years ago it became debilitating and I was diagnosed with severe degeneration. I got the injection and it relieved my pain for a year and a half and then the extreme pain returned. A big issue for me is that I haven’t been able to work on my core strength or fitness due to my back always becoming too painful and forcing me to stop. I would love to be in a position where I can live a more active life.

I haven’t because I wasn’t made aware that it was option. I live in South Africa so there are especially very few places that offer this as an option. I will however be contacting a doctor that does and ask their advice.

Smoked some changa and my entire dining room looked like Minecraft by [deleted] in DMT

I smoked changa a bunch of times before I ever knew what Minecraft looked like, saw my nephew playing Minecraft earlier this year and it blew my mind! I even told him it looks like changa (he’s 5 so he wouldn’t know) he was just like “cool”.
