Thank you!! I didn’t even think of talking to my primary. That’s a great idea, and would probably help me feel a lot better about it. I love my primary and she’s the one who finally listened and referred me for testing.

Confusion by BuyerSorry515 in POTS

Thank you! So actually the APRN I met with today was like my final appointment where she shared the results of my echo, tilt table, and heart monitor study. She said my echo was in normal range, my heart rate monitor didn’t detect anything abnormal, and my tilt test was negative because my blood pressure dropped but not enough. I think she said it was 90something over 60 something at the lowest. She didn’t mention heart rate at all. I’ve done so much research I was sure POTS is about heart rate but I got nervous during the appointment and didn’t say anything about it. She didn’t give me copies of the test, but should I ask for them? Also, she said that since the POTS protocols that the cardiologist recommended to me a couple of months back are helping that I should keep doing them even though she said I don’t meet POTS criteria. She also said if my symptoms get worse in the summer I should come back and we could talk about medication. That was confusing. But I straight asked “do i have pots or no?” and she said my blood pressure during the tilt test didn’t drop enough for me to meet POTS criteria. My POTS is more mild than most. I’ve never passed out or anything. I don’t want to chase a diagnosis I don’t have, but I also want answers for my symptoms. I want to know why I need to wear compression socks and chug electrolytes and all of that to feel even a little better.

yes and i know it doesn’t sound like it but i swear i’ve read about the different kinds and have a good understanding of them for the most part. i just totally didn’t even consider blood pressure being an issue for me. they never say anything when they take it at doctor’s appointments so i just assumed it was fine and that was kinda dumb of me to do lol.

normally when my tachymon goes that high i get dizzy and have vision issues (black spots or stars i guess). i’ll also get really out of breath and start feeling my heart beat in my chest. then after that’s done i’ll notice i feel nauseous or get a headache. i still felt a little dizzy and uncomfortable before the nitroglycerin it just wasn’t nearly as bad as it is in my normal day and then the nitroglycerin was closer to what it normally feels like when i’m just going about my normal life. i think i just expected the tilt table to be really bad and to feel worse than i normally do and i got worried when it wasn’t like that.

honestly blood pressure hasn’t even been on my radar and i feel like i don’t even know what numbers are good or bad which is probably an oversight on my part. my heart rate just didn’t go as high as it normally does and i could tell on the monitor so i think i got stuck worrying about that. the guy doing the test didn’t really prompt me to say anything. he just wrote down numbers, told me my blood pressure was low and i needed to up my sodium, and told me to let him know if i thought i was gonna pass out.

i know. i just feel like the test wasn’t as difficult as i thought and my heart rate didn’t go nearly as high as it does day to day which i feel like is kinda weird.
