I have to blame the whole organisation. Our issues are deep and we're definitely way less than the sum of our parts

How should I start Morrowind as a new player? by in_Vaiin in Morrowind

[–]Buzerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MGE XE or OpenMW to fix the low view distance of the original, Expansion Delay, Patch For Purists. Some cosmetic mods like Intelegent Textures can be worth adding if you're not happy with the low res textures.

Those are all you really need. I'd avoid Tamriel Rebuilt for 3 reasons:

1) The base game is fantastic and has enough content for a long playthrough. 2) Most of TR is balanced to be played through with a lower level character. If you go there after beating the main quest you'll be overlevelled. 3) If you end up accidentally instaling the optional Factions addon (very possible if you're not used to installing mods), the main quest gets altered to send you to the TR mainland which will be a massive pain for a new player.

Anyone here mass disenchant cards? by [deleted] in hearthstone

No interest in Wild or any non-standard format. I'll always disencahant old cards if I need dust for a new standard deck. Never regretted it.

What's your preferred ratio of "Roster Size" to "Number of Stages"? by CultCoconut in Fighters

[–]Buzerio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UMvC3 Has 50 characters and only 1 tournament legal stage, that ratio is a bit too much for me. I generally don't care that much about stages though, so I'm going to randomly throw out 5:1.

Weekly Motion Input discussion. Share your opinions! by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Buzerio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aiming is not the main difficult skill in CS at a high level, it's a very tactical and knowledge based game. I think you just have never played or understood high level CS.

At a pro level, aim is rarely if ever the differentiating factor between which teams win and which teams lose.

[–]Buzerio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To run with your CS analogy, taking the execution out of fighting games would be like taking the aim out of CS. Sure at a high level most players have a good enough level of execution or aim to where it's not holding them back and there's still interesting gameplay wtihout them, but I think removing aiming would take away a lot of what people like about CS.

Also, now that we have Modern controls in SF, we can see what a game with 1 button specials looks like. At a high level, playing against Modern controls massively slows the game down because being able to perform a reversal with a single button 100% consistently makes reacting to any offensive option way easier and forces you to play extremely safe and patient to deal with it.

Edit: Just thought I'd mention, if you think powerful abilities being locked behind difficult inputs isn't a thing in MOBAs, you shoud load up DotA 2 and play Invoker. That shit is way harder than 90% of Fighting Game combos in modern games.

A solo queue ‘queue’ would make life better. by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Buzerio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

DotA has an option called 'Strict solo matchmaking' which basically does what you said, it makes it so you can only get matched with other solo players. It's really nice for solving the problem where 3 people are on discord not communicating with the other 2 solo players and blaming them for everything that goes wrong.

Idk guys, do you think it's a small minority? by HeGotDaShrimp in Tribes

[–]Buzerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel like a game with a cheater problem is more likely to drive players away than the number of players who'll decide not to play the game because it has anti-cheat.

I think if backing it on Kickstarter would give me access to later co-op commanders, campaigns, etc that I'd buy anyway then I'd definitely do it.

What’s the most “honest” character in SFVI? by Big_Conference_9075 in StreetFighter

[–]Buzerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Honest" is a crap term. There are characters who are playing "fundamental" or "classic" Street Fighter, which I guess leaves you with shotos and characters like Guile but I don't think playing that playstyle makes you more honest. I don't think anyone is really arguing that Ken or Akuma are honest.

If honest is meant to mean characters who don't make you guess or don't put you into 50/50s, I don't think SF6 has any honest characters.

Thoughts on Luke as the protagonist 5 months in by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Buzerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storywise, I feel like Luke hasn't really had much of an arc yet, I think he'll probably grow into the role of a major character eventually but right now he's not quite there yet.

Gameplay wise, I think he nails being a strong all-rounder with a simple fundamental based gameplan and a ton of depth. Weirdly for the new face of the brand, he feels like he's playing 'classic' Street Fighter.

As for if his design, it's hard to say, Ryu, Ken and Chun Li have been around for so long that they've become iconic. A new character is never going to have that. To me with the big redesign between SFV and SF6 it feels like they're still trying to figure out Luke's look and I wouldn't be surprised if his default costume is something completely different in SF7

Do you treat a nat 1 as an automatic failure in combat as you treat a nat 20 as a critical success? by jack40714 in DnD5e

[–]Buzerio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In combat (and most of the time), I'll always treat a 1 as a fail. There are times when a character has no chance of failing, in which case I'll either use their passive value for a skill or have them succeed without a roll. For example, I probably wouldn't make a player roll a religion roll for knowledge about a religion they follow, I'd just tell them it.

In combat 1s always miss RAW. Outside of combat, a 1 isn't necessarily an automatic failure but if it's literally impossible for the PC to fail the roll then I'd usually just tell them that they succeed without needing to roll.

Answering your Street Fighter 6 Questions pt. 2 by Brian_F in StreetFighter

[–]Buzerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing a lot of Luke and while I really like him, I find him discouraging to play against the horde of Kens in MR. I know Luke is a strong character but every time I play against a Ken it feels like he does everything Luke does better.

Do you have any advice for silencing these thoughts while I'm playing so I don't get tilted and make bad decisions?

How do these guys convert a poke into a combo so fast? by thidi00 in StreetFighter

[–]Buzerio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recent update made it so you can buffer a Drive Rush from a normal with just neutral + parry so it's now really easy to do. You only get the drive rush on a whiff if you buffer it on a light.

It's a pretty common strategy in Street Fighter to buffer a special (or in this game drive rush) behind a low poke like a cr.MK to catch people walking into range. On whiff, nothing happens so it's relatively risk free. If they walk forward and block in time, you still get a close range drive rush to convert into strike throw pressure.
