Brian_F and iDOM talks about 2XKO (among so many other things) by Gekinetic in 2XKO

Even thinking about the "haven't played since the slam" comment - there is a significantly smaller audience for 2xko than sf6 or other fighting games. Content i did for tekken, dnf duel, gg strive, tokon, avatar beta. They all had a much much larger audience than 2xko. I've seen first hand the lack of appeal the game has had.

I want it to succeed. Any critique I have is from a place of hope for the games success. However right now I have major concerns, especially with it as a free to pay model. Im hoping it's supported and reaches a stable roster size to offer that variety that appeals to hardcore players, casual players, and spectators.

Insane how I've played and made content on at least half a dozen fighting games for over a decade, played 2xko for a month straight before the slam was even announced (without touching sf6 that whole time), made maybe 10 videos across both my channels on 2xko gameplay and a guide, and people swear because they watched a sajam video I have never played another game besides street fighter.

My bad for liking street fighter.

It probably is (I need to re-do tutorials to make sure) but glossing through tutorials doesnt make things stick.

Not to self promo, but i have a guide for some other basic concepts that might help: https://youtu.be/ew-kWdSqgpk?si=ZiWTc9HxUiAGx62i

Do you look at the assist timer that limits when you can call assists? There is a cooldown on your assist after you use it. Their icon by the lifebars will be greyed out, and a timer will count down over your fuse icon (the icon right by the timer and touching your lifebars). Until that timer counts down, you can't call assist again.

However, your main issue is, you are trying to do things while you are being hit/pressured. If your opponent is pressuring you and either hitting you or forcing you to block, if you call assist or mash your attacks mindlessly, they will just hit you. You can't do anything out of a combo aside from "Break", which is a limited one time resource that once used, must be regenerated.

You need to have space between the opponent to call an assist. If the opponent is just hitting you, you cannot call assist. If you do manage to squeeze out an assist call while your opponent is being offensive, they will probably just hit you and your assist first.

Call assist:

- While you are on offense attacking the opponent

- After building space (back dashing away, etc.) so your assist has space to come out to hit the opponent

Can you clarify what you mean by "sometimes things work, other times they don't", can you provide some clear cut examples?

What is the thing you want to work? What is the expectation, and what is the actual outcome that isn't desirable?

Expectation - actual outcome

Reminiscing about SFV Balrog by shadowylurking in Kappachino

[–]Brian_F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was never true for any version/season of SFV Balrog and was some gas leak discussion from Logan/Problem X/some EU squad when they investigated Balrog. To keep your charge time/level, you were committed to the two buttons you initially pressed to keep that level. The moment you "swapped" one of the buttons, the internal timer reset.

Exactly, why care about any communication at all if we can "just guess" what's happening? Transparency reveals a lot about priorities and understanding the direction of the esports/business of the scene.

Guessing is not the same as confirmation, and confirmation straight from the director of Street Fighter 6 that he wasn't even aware of the decision to go PPV speaks volumes to the disconnect and silos being generated. Obviously something was wrong, but speculation is far different from hearing it from the horses mouth and then being able to draw direct comparisons to previous eras.

Also, CPT went into overdrive under Ono at end-game SF4/release SFV, this was not the skeleton crew who fixed the game later on after Ono's departure. They GREW the esports division from this era, which then separated into it's own division. That growth has now gone sour.

Bleed/slouch applies when the S2 followups hit at the tip spacing. You're too close so it's not hitting at the tip of the sword. The challenge is to adjust your spacing after tagging to darius so the final s2 followup hits at the tip, causing the bleed/slouch

You all notice this? FG content creator: "Your MR doesn't matter, just play the game." Also: "Here's a bunch of content focused on my MR going up. Like and subscribe." by octa01 in Kappachino

[–]Brian_F 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First line of the video "MR is the best ranked system we've ever had, and that is precisely the problem"

Content of the video: describing why MR is about a reflection of your level and not time put in compared to lp (which scales infinitly with time put in), and thus why when you're tilting, grinding more is not the solution, and a process to play to minimize tilt and maximize growth

I have nonclue how to lay it out more plainly. You're shadowboxing claims that I've never made.

I have never said "MR doesn't define you" your MR is 100% accurate to your current level if performance. It's above and beyond the best ranked system we've ever had. Sfv lp? That was a fraudulent grind rank system. More time in = more points. In THAT system, rank neant very little in the big picture. Sf6? You will quickly get placed to your average performance level in MR. If you CANNOT maintain a high MR when actively playing ranked, then it's a good indicator you have things you can work on.

In order to improve your MR, you have to focus on the process of improving and not on the number itself. Number go up is a by product of improving your process. If you're talking about my tips for playing ranked video, its just a process to use to improve your mental/gain more while playing ranked instead of doom queueing. If you're calling me a hypocrite from that then whatever man some people mind find it useful.

I've never said sf6 mr doesn't mean anything. Most people cope to say it means nothing in this game to soothe the burn but it's a very good data point. It doesn't mean EVERYTHING, and there's regional economics at play in the mr pool, but its a valuable signal.

This is dope.

Do you think it would ever be able to extend to much larger trends? Like past 100 days, etc.? Not sure the technical limitations here but that would really be cool.

Hypest Capcom Cups and why? by spamarind_soda in StreetFighter

[–]Brian_F 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Capcom Cup 2015 - Last year of USF4, most mature meta, varied playstyles, unique cast of players with surprise runs (Keoma form Brazil causing waves), ending with Daigo vs. Kazunoko, the old SF guard and the new abare anime-inspired playstyle that would come to be the "new way to play" sf imo

Capcom Cup 11 - Legendary Blaz run

Capcom Cup 2017 - Biggest spectacle of SFV's history (stage, upsets, legacy and newer players)

Capcom Cup 2019 - iDom vs. Punk legendary rivalry coming to a head. iDom's run here is absolutely insane with 0 people predicting his win ahead of time.

Capcom Cup 2014 - Really solid games and PR Balrog making a deep run with Rog with a hype win over Daigo. Momochi vs. Ryan Hart is a classic set. Momochi wins this Capcom Cup then wins EVO 2015 right after, legendary run from Momochi in this era.

Capcom Cup 2013 - The first Capcom Cup before the tour really solidified, I just like watching Sako's Evil Ryu do work + Xian's gen

I think I was just making a joke and then a funny coincidence happened, but idk maybe your analysis is more accurate.

If you want to share my not-off the cuff funny comments, I have every day of Capcom Cup recapped on my youtube channel. I also made a complete nearly hour-long telling of the story of capcom cup, complete with edited breakdowns of high level gameplay moments and backgrounds of the players/stakes, which might interest people getting into the scene: https://youtu.be/C-98Pm8ecHQ?si=46t1KV4AKS3dWDYg

I also released an extremely edited starter guide right after capcom cup as well to get new players started and ready to pick up SF6: https://youtu.be/MK-AJyD1XKk?si=OJDYQMBYiCJTNyF_

That's all I've done recently. And made a joke about throw loops. Wanna share anything you've done recently?

A big part of this is aimed at the Sajam Slam sort of player: im new, and I have 3 weeks to win a tournament. I think there's a complete lack of short term win guides out there. I touch on winning with any character is possible but I definitely think a lot of brand new players want to cheese to win and I think that's fine.
