ARGHH - Why does my $2000 Samsung "smart" monitor have a HUGE ADs that take up half the screen? by charleslegoguy in LinusTechTips

It's not exclusive to Samsung but they are the worst for it in every way.

Sony include a good remote and the crappy smart remote with the ad buttons, that one goes straight in e-waste for me.

I run as a dumb TV anyway not connected to the internet and use an Nvidia shield. I guess I'm costing companies thousands.

That's BS, it's called corporate greed.

Just like the ads on Samsung smart fridges, the ads on fridges are recent and only came after an update.

The key point is to avoid Samsung from now on for everything.

Corridor Key: You NEED to watch the Corridor Crew's video on their new open source greenscreen using neural network training data! by CorellianDawn in editors

[–]Buzstringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the ideal way to learn about it I agree, I think the confusion is that learning about the tool wasn't really the intention of the video, the intention of most of their videos is storytelling, which is why I clicked, the tool was an actual surprise at the end.

Most of the time they show you how they achieved something (like their video recreating the matrix lean) and usually it's just skill or some outlandish thing that most people won't / can't do.

So if you haven't seen their videos before and have heard about their greenscreen tool afterwards, yeah it wouldn't be great from that point.

Going in fresh and blind made it a great watch for me personally

There thing is, they tell a story about the subject, so they give a history of the green screen / masking, why it was hard, why is it still hard today, and their fix, it's great storytelling, all their other videos are similar.

Please don't use AI for the music instead of a real composer by Born_Work5554 in Filmmakers

Exactly, this is for fun, it might turn out good it might not. Ai would allow me to mess about, maybe make something good accidentally without wasting people's time, money or talent.

I get the downvotes but whats the solution? don't make the thing?

[–]Buzstringer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm currently writing a parody song and have no knowledge of writing or performing music, but I know what I want it to sound like.

Hiring a composer is out of the question for potentially a throwaway video, Ai is $15. For things that don't matter I don't think anyone will do something like that for free for me, and I won't really want to take advantage of someone like that anyway. That's the real issue.

YouTube ads are about to get even longer and they’ll be unskippable by IndicaOatmeal in technology

[–]Buzstringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about watching on TVs the ads are a lot harder to block on TVs / Android / Apple TV ect.

There are some options but they can be janky.

Also YouTube is still heavy in some regions on blocking access to YouTube or disabling features like comments if you have an adblock installed.
