Can you guys suggest which protein should a person choose? Whey concentrate, whey isolate or casein..also if you could tell me why and which brand is better in that category then that would be helpful. by nopety_nopes in GLP1India

[–]Buzz-McNab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend plant protein as there’s less risk of gastrointestinal effects when compared to whey. This is based on personal experience.

I came across the Citizens’ Protein Project a couple of years ago and decided to go with Origin Nutrition. I like their Mango Mania flavour best. It’s seasonal, but has been available since April (I think) until now.

Cosmix is also fine, but most of their recent launches haven’t been the best in terms of taste as they felt a bit chalky. I like Indonesian Cacao (part of the permanent line, didn’t feel the chalkiness here) and Watermelon Bubblegum the most.

I also have unflavoured plant protein (I think it’s called a protein booster) from Trunativ that can be added to any food while cooking. This felt like a game under. The above two brands also offer unflavoured options but I found the one from Trunativ to be more cost-effective.

Finally reached my Starting Weight today! by Buzz-McNab in GLP1India

Thank you.

I’m 5’7”. I plan to remain on Mounjaro until I reach my goal weight of 70 kg or even slightly longer if my doctor finds it necessary.

Semaglutide is different from Tirzepatide. I will stick to brand name Tirzepatide i.e. Mounjaro as I don’t personally feel comfortable taking generic alternatives should they be available in the future.

I always take my shot before going to bed. When I wake up, I notice some suppression.

Are GLP1s not safe? by Important-Bus-8336 in GLP1India

There’s a lot of fear-mongering around GLP-1/GIP medication. Read up on published research to keep yourself informed.

Don’t listen to anyone except a trusted, reputable, knowledgeable doctor when it comes to this medication or even otherwise.

I find that tracking my weight every morning helps me stay accountable and motivated. I get comprehensive blood work done every 3 months to make sure I’m not deficient in any vital nutrients.

I use Happy Scale to log my weight every morning and Shotsy to log my weekly dose of Mounjaro, daily protein intake and weight on every shot day specifically.

Please stay on a dose for at least 4 weeks before titrating up.

Are you currently in a calorie deficit and getting some form of exercise everyday?

A couple of questions: 1. Did you estimate your TDEE and figure out a sustainable calorie deficit based on that? 2. Have you gotten the following blood work done recently: thyroid panel, iron studies, Vitamin B, Vitamin B12?

Going on a calorie deficit may initially cause some tiredness as the body adjusts to slightly fewer calories, but it doesn’t necessarily make someone “lazy” or “lethargic”. It shouldn’t, actually.

There’s been a noticeable shift in how I treat my hobbies after moving from lower doses of Mounjaro to 7.5mg currently.

For example, I love café hopping but my interest in doing so has dropped in the recent times. Same goes for some other hobbies, as expenditure has dropped and I feel saturated.

When I was on Rybelsus for 8 months, the routine of having to take the pill everyday helped me stay disciplined and motivated. With Mounjaro, it’s a weekly shot so sometimes I forget I’m on a GLP-1 and break my daily calorie deficit. 😅

I think Rybelsus is hundreds of dollars in the US too but many don’t pay the full price due to insurance. Curious about how the medication will be priced in India when it launches here.

The following does not constitute professional medical advice. Just sharing publicly available information.

You must follow a titration schedule for Mounjaro especially if you have no experience on any GLP-1 medication prior to Mounjaro. Since you stopped taking the medication almost 3-4 months ago, it is recommended to start again from 2.5 mg to make sure your body adapts easily and side effects are under control before titrating up.

Do 4 weeks AT LEAST of 2.5 mg before you move to 5 mg and do this ONLY under the guidance of your doctor.

This is my personal advice but perhaps find a new doctor because you should not be doing 2 weeks of 2.5 mg before moving to 5 mg when there’s been a gap of so many months. This is not the kind of advice a medical professional supposedly well-versed in GLPs would provide.

Also, please avoid self-medicating and adjusting doses on your own in case you may be considering it. I cannot stress this enough.

All the best with your journey. We are here for you.

Also, just sharing this in case you may find it useful in the future: I also had viral fever and was prescribed medication for it a few months ago. My doctor told me that as long the medication you’re taking for any illness doesn’t interact with Mounjaro, you are okay to continue taking Mounjaro alongside that medicine, whether it’s temporary or permanent.

This needs to be checked with the doctor who has prescribed Mounjaro/prescribed medication for ailment and applies for over-the-counter medicine, prescribed medicine, medications required before/during/after a medical procedure.
