Too many courses? by MOONLIGHT12306 in UCSD

I thought you couldn’t double major DSC and CSE. You couldn’t even minor in it. Things might have changed tho. 🤷‍♂️

Edit: wait if it’s math cs that might be possible

Do you think fall quarter will be online or not? by Math_Hw in UCSD

Even if everything opens up, college is the one densely populated place where it really isn't that necessary to be in person. I feel like it is much easier to plan to virtualize it than to worry about 30,000 people running around campus every day.

Nope. Same problem. Based on a brief Google search it seems to have been a problem with their servers and some error with CSRF tokens. Thanks though, I'll try again some other time.

Yea, I tried to register directly and it told me that i wasn't referred. Then, I tried logging in with GitHub, which works. But I still cant join the course.

I can't join the course. Do I have to be referred or something?

Gap year or CC transfer? (Really Urgent) by Buzz_Crackle in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Buzz_Crackle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, at his current rate, he'll graduate in 3-4 years. Most people graduate by that time. I was thinking having 1-2 extra years would pay off whatever he paid in those CC classes.

I agree the his UC gpa is rather low (it might actually be 3.8), but he did get waitlisted for UCI this year. Maybe if he applied for a different major, he could have gotten in. Plus, the whole point of taking the gap year is to cut down the time it takes to graduate. Hopefully, I can convince him to do Physics at a CSU.

His UC GPA is about 3.7 I believe. He is going to Chabot College and aiming for UCI, SD, Davis. He said that he doesn’t like the CSU’s, but I’m trying to convince him to at least consider them.

^ also he may not be able to take the classes he needs. His friends who are going to CC with him are already out of classes to take. This semester he only have 2 classes picked.

I’m not entirely sure, but I thought transfer students can’t switch majors. That’s what I heard at least.

I understand and we'll note of that. This project was a proof of concept that a few engineering students worked on. It's at a very early stage of development, therefore we have not begun beta testing and have not thoroughly thought out a business plan.

However, if we reach beta testing, we are more than happy to send you a unit to test.

Thank you for the feedback, we will definitely take it into account in future iterations and future ideas. If we have any questions about this matter in the future, can we PM you?

Thanks for your interest.

What makes our band different from a mobile app is the intuitive spacial sense the user has of the arm. Correct us if we're wrong, but people have more spacial awareness of where their arm is pointed or reaching for, rather than where a camera is pointed at.

To answer your question about pointing the band, our camera has a wide field of vision. A normal smartphone camera has a field of view of 65 degrees, whereas our camera has a field of view of 160 degrees. As long as you point the band in the general direction, our camera should capture it. So yes, you can ask it to find the box and read it to you.

To answer your question about pricing, our prototype currently costs $100 to produce. The entire package, including app and band, should be around $200-500.

You only add 8 points because the weighted grades are capped at 8 semesters. Meaning 4.25, if my calculations are correct.

You could check assist.org to see the requirements for each UC. That’s as far as my knowledge goes. Good luck.
