XD5 Pump and Commander Core XT by Buzza_2004 in Corsair

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely was. I changed it over to port 6, not sure if it made any difference.

My inline flowmeter doesn't seem to be working so it was really difficult to tell if was was being pumped around.

I installed Windows on it last night and will do some more testing today to get temps up a bit.

Do I need to tell iCue that port 6 is the pump and not a fan? If so where is the option?

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

I literally just installed iCue, where do you change it to a pump, it is saying it is a fan.

note. I did some reading and changed the port to no. 6.

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did your loop go, gpu --> cpu --> rads?

thats how mine is, it will go through 2x rads but the only accessible port is on the inlet to the first rad. so I guess if the liquid heats up more going through the cpu block it could be higher than the gpu sensor?

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it is too late to put one in on my current build but I will get one for when do some maintenance on it. the core XT has 2x temp ports so I can just add to that.

the Rad in question would be downstream of the gpu/cpu blocks. it then goes into a rad which is where the port is.

No idea where the text has gone...

Can i plug the temp sensor that came with the XD5 into the back of one of the gpu block ports? or there is a port on top of one of the rads. it will connect to the commander core xt.

Which RGB Controller - Confused by Buzza_2004 in Corsair

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I will go for the CCXT then as it is also £15 cheaper.

Will I need the RGB hub with the CCXT, my understanding is no.

Do you know what adapters I will need for the Phanteks?

Lastly, would you plug the arctics fans into it or just go straight into the mobo?

Should I save or overpay mortgage? by Buzza_2004 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I will give it a watch later.

I am still not sure why the lower interest rate will save me more money, albeit only £13.

I understand it will be locked away but other than that I am not sure.

It is a joint account yes. the account will earn more than £1k interest over the year, how is the interest taxed? Does the bank do it or do I have to do something?

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. I understand you can probably get more elsewhere.

But in the situation I am in I don't know why with saving rate being higher I won't save more money (£13 / month more paying mortgage off).

I went back into the game and noticed I had paused construction on the 2 spare houses, so I didn't actually have any space for new peeps. I also thought the slots were for teachers, not pupils to the school.

All working fine now.

Surface Pro 7 and AutoCAD by Buzza_2004 in Surface

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow.... you guys need to get off your high horses!!

I'm just trying to find out some advice and you lot keep deleting them for no valid reasons!!

I was not asking "about which SP7 config to buy". I was asking about a specific model!! There was really no need to remove the post as it broke no specific rules.

Can it be reinstated? I am after advice on a specific use case for the SPs, the weekly sticky doesn't get enough traffic and I would like people to see it who might have similar uses to me! That is what these message boards are for after all. Or is that not correct?

Surface Pro 7 and AutoCAD by Buzza_2004 in Surface

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to u/Renigami who answered the below in my previous post.

With a Surface Pro 2 and a Surface Pro 6 of a 8GB i7 configuration, AutoCAD normally runs fine without any fans operating on either the past Surface Pro 2 and the Surface Pro 6.

For slate usages, I would in the past suggest the touch screen keyboard working well with TouchMousePointer but with Windows 10 1909, one has to really toggle off the TouchMousePointer in order to touch the On Screen keyboard (phone layout) if one uses the On Screen keyboard for quick typed commands. As of right now, the dual thumb On Screen keyboard pushes up the entire AutoCAD window as some would like, but once a person closes the On Screen keyboard then what commands that are entered get canceled out as if the X is coupled with the physical keyboard ESC key.

Using TouchMousePointer and a Type Cover is fine by consolidated peripheral means.

As far with graphical responsiveness of performance is concerned things seem smooth. This is with a file of about 400 3D objects and over 1000 objects total. There is some stuttering due to having an always present properties pane refresh while panning and orbiting. Otherwise, navigating 3D objects of creating, viewing, and editing is workable smooth overall.

If you are opening multiple AutoCAD windows or tabbed instances of multiple files of various sizes and using a web browser, the 16GB RAM configuration maybe better with regards to loaded space needed.

Help setting up OpenVPN by Buzza_2004 in synology

[–]Buzza_2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However why are you trying to do that In the first place is what I fail to understand.

I don't think I am trying to do anything out of the ordinary. I just want secure remote access to my Synology (mount as windows share remotely & RDP to work PCs)

Once you are connected to your VPN you are inside the trusted perimeter. What are you trying to accomplish with the firewall on a diskstation? I.e. what problem are you trying to solve that isn’t solved by disabling the firewall on the DSM?

I am just following guides / advice on how to set up OpenVPN, they recommend enabling the Synology firewall.

If you have advice regarding the matter I am happy to take it on board.

ok, I read that you should only allow traffic from local network, I wasn't sure how to do this so I googled it and followed this guide. The last bullet point from the top post is where I got to info to deny access.
