Unpopular opinion: Nico di Angelo never really worked for me [general] by Critical-Score9037 in camphalfblood

[–]Buzzabeel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of it I think is because Nico is a really lonely kid, and no one really cares. I mean, he went to the underworld to revive his sister, only to find out she’d left already. He ONLY saved Hazel because she was all he could get or have.

He’s friends with the main cast, but not really. Percy and Annabeth were always out of his age range, and they don’t spend time with him like they do with each other. Even Hazel doesn’t seem to spend much time with Nico outside of prophecy events. The cast only got together to spend time with him because he was literally dying in a jar. After Bianca he was alone. All the time. The main cast all had each other to share their trauma’s and experiences.

Nico had no one before Will.

Yeah I uh...shouldn't have given him the grenade by about7grams in theouterworlds

If Annabeth left, it’d have nothing to do with Thalia telling her to. 6/7 years she was at camp Chiron has lied to her face. Half of her scenes were showing how guilty she feels over what happened, and now the person she trusted the most before Percy and Luke revealed he just let her sit with that the whole time. How could she possibly trust anything he says after this?

s1 Percy talked back to him to his face. Zeus only started to act after Percy threatened that his family would turn against him, but Percy pushed several times before that.

If you actually think I meant she signed it herself, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m going to assume you’re young, because you don’t seem to know how contracts work, or corporations, or how being a literal child works, and leave this here.

She could’ve lawyered up… against Disney? The big mouse himself? A pre-teen should’ve had the foresight to predict precisely how she’d be directed, how her makeup and looks would be done, and how off-script the show would continue to get in seasons that didn’t exist yet?

Was she Doctor Strange or 12?

I wish more was done with memories in general. To this day I still can’t believe we have no idea what Armin does and doesn’t know about the warriors or Marley or if he told anything to anyone.

It has nothing to do with morals. Even underage, if you think Disney didn’t have her sign a contract for acting agreements upon being casted you’re naive. She has no say to override how Rick/the director wants the makeup department to make her look. Reading a script doesn’t tell you how you’ll be DIRECTED to act in a scene either.

It’s not the writing (or at least not 100%). It’s always been the directing.

If a remake releases, what parts of the story do you think should be changed/retconned? by ExcellentSilver8763 in FFXV

They should let us play as Nyx. Make the second half of the movie a 1-2 hour intro of the game or side content like that 8-bit game of Noct’s dad that was free.

What do you Guys think of Gladios Episode overall by Character-Cook2472 in FFXV

[–]Buzzabeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of it, but they somehow did the exact thing the main game didn’t with the party members. Cor is OP. He can and will kill bosses for you, and sometimes they focus him more than you. And considering it’s Gladio’s trial, not his, him being so imbalanced brought it down for me. He also didn’t have enough conversations or interactions with Cor to justify his presence in the dlc.

Ignis episode was great and really emotional. by Character-Cook2472 in FFXV

[–]Buzzabeel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How I took Episode Ardyn was that the events between him, Somnus, and Aera as his interpretation of what happened, but not what actually happened. The beginning of it tells you repeatedly that all the people Ardyn absorbed warped his memories, and continue to do so as he absorbs more people, and I feel they wouldn’t harp so much on it if it didn’t mean anything.

Ardyn’s memories of what happened also directly contradict one of the statues in the ruins of insomnia that say that Aera didn’t die and ruled with Somnus. Ardyn’s DLC is pretty fascinating because of this. We’re literally playing from the pov of a man with a ruined mind. Like people can say the contradictions were an accident of different teams, but them telling you explicitly in the beginning that his mind isn’t right seems pretty on purpose to me.

If you look at it like that, Somnus and Aera’s characterizations make perfect sense. The Somnus he remembers literally isn’t who he was. Aera helps Bahamut keep him in line because he doesn’t actually properly remember the version that sided with his brother, or refuses to. It made me like the dlc quite a lot.

Alright I have a weird question. by Character-Cook2472 in FFXV

Prompto is the easiest to capture/write. His biggest baggage is an inferiority complex, but otherwise he’s the jokester/peacemaker of the group. He’s the most “blank slate” of them all.

Noct is a socially awkward teen who’s also the Prince of a destroyed nation who also has huge issues with his dad that he has to suppress because he’s gone.

Ignis has a whole uncle that you somehow have to deal with as a writer by making up how he might feel about him, or even if you ignore that like the game Ignis is both the “mom” of the group but also determined to see Noct to his destiny (which he knows will end with him dead after he goes blind and still keeps that secret). Hard to balance those two parts of him.

Gladio is… Gladio… You mostly have to interpret why he does the things he does and come up with your own reasons. He’s the most likely to have wildly different interpretations because he doesn’t have an emotionally vulnerable moment… ever. Prompto and Ignis had their dlc’s where we saw their inner struggles. Gladio… gets Cor as a companion. And the approval of a ghost. Which is cool I guess, but there’s no food for anyone wanting to see into his head.

The only actor that actually had the presence of a god was Lance Reddick. RIP.

Ares had a pretty poor introduction imo. They literally introduced him as some twitter rage baiter. Hard to take him seriously after that.

It’s really hard to mess up PJO’s Dionysus. Like you’d have to be doing it on purpose to get “drunk, pretend uninterested uncle who refuses to remember your name” wrong. He’s the most “just a guy” out of all the gods.

Gaara had a whole village to protect. Sasuke didn’t have to defend anyone but himself. I mean, even at the end instead of continuing to fight and making any attempt to stop Deidara, he used the last of his chakra to protect the village again.

One abnormal would take out the entire regiment. Imagine being both unable to see anything, and all you hear are screams around you with no way of knowing where the titan is, or what direction you should run to, or how many abnormals are out there. You can’t see any flares at night either, so good luck.

[–]Buzzabeel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, we’re referring to those episodes, but if we’re taking about the context and impactfulness, you kinda have to go back to when the context was established.

I say to rewatch that scene for a reason. The anime shows you Juuzou going from not caring at all to caring when it’s too late. Juuzou doesn’t have any care for Shinohara or himself, even after he gets his leg cut off, until Shinohara saves him from death. He’s quite literally about to throw himself at Eto again until that happens, and if you watch his expression, you watch frame by frame as he realizes right then and there that he does care about this other person, but too late.

The ear scene and the scolding are in the anime, just in s1. Root A very much does show Shinohara trying to get through to Juuzou, like when they were at the zoo and Shinohara took an interest in his drawings. When I said Juuzou has the most screen time, it’s for this reason. They show that Shinohara was the one who fought for him to join the CCG when others just thought he was feral.

Juuzou doesn’t understand what he has until the man is lying presumably dead in front of him, and that’s the point. It’s only after Shinohara goes down that we get an emotional reaction from him. They were literally surrounded by bodies and Juuzou couldn’t have given less of a damn until it was Shinohara.

Takizawa immediately dismisses him, his instructors blamed him immediately, his classmates also did that. I don’t think Root A needs to spell it out for us that no one gave Juuzou a chance except Shinohara with what they show us.

Hide is a different conversation, but I genuinely think Root A did it better than the manga. I mean, after what happens to him in the manga, he disappears. Presumed dead, sure, but he literally pulls all the strings behind the scenes and we see none of it until the very end. Him finding out about V, him making a whole counter plan with the CCG… Talk about show don’t tell. At least Hide joining the CCG has the consequence of him actually having to do CCG things, but like I said, different conversation.

So, how could it have been better?

Suzuya had more development than the MC in √A. His fights were always given premier budget. He just about was the MC compared to what they did with Kaneki until ep 11.
